The Gumbo Limbo Trail is off the Royal Palm visitors center near the entrance to the Everglades National Park. It is a loop of less than 1/2 mile through an historic “hammock” of hardwood trees & dense growth - including the large red bark Gumbo...More

We learned a lot reading the signs on this informative short trail. It was easy to hike, paved and flat. I recommend reading the signs.

The Gumbo Limbo trail is adjacent to the Royal Palm Visitor Center and the Anhinga Trail. The entrance to the trail is right at the beginning of the Anhinga Trail walkway. This paved walkway wanders through a dense area of trees, so you get the...More

Really nice trail in authentic old Florida. Really scary at night, it's so dark but fun as long as you have a flashlight.

Fun and unique nature! Easy to navigate asphalt trail with nicely labeled trees and occurrences. Seems like you are remote yet not a difficult hike!

This trail is close to the more popular Anhinga Trail and is worth the effort. It is short and an interesting compliment to the Anhinga, showing a different view of the Everglades.

If visiting the Anhinga Trail this is a good place to visit on a hot day. Gumbo Limbo is a shaded trail and cooler than the open Anhinga Trail. The observant walkerr can spot the linguus snails that are often seen in the area.

Gumbo Limbo trail is a nice, short walk through the forest but nothing spectacular. If you are there to visit Anhinga Trail (definitely worth a visit) you should take the Gumbo Limbo trail too since they are right next to one another. Bring bug spray!
