It was a wonderful tour. We saw four moose, two of them babies, two distinct herds of caribou, a marmot, four grizzly bears, two of them cubs, mew gulls, ptarmigans, ravens, many dall sheep, a golden eagle, black-capped chickadee, arctic ground squirrels and baby robins, among other birds. The scenery was incredibly beautiful. Our driver and guide, Jen, was outstanding!... More

The tour bus was considered to be a luxury tour bus, and it was. However, the seats are quit small. great for elementary school sized children. No arm rest to hold you in if your are larger. We were given a snack and a bottle of water. Fortunately, the ticket sales person told us to pack a lunch.(8 1/2 hrs.,... More

While we did have to ride a no frills school bus, the seats were comfortable and the trip wasn't as bad as it sounds. Before our visit I read that the driver will make or break the trip and this is true. We lucked out with a guy who had been doing this for I think fourteen years. Obviously this... More

You will ride on a school bus--yes, a real school bus--for 60 miles into the park and then back again. The whole experience takes between six and eight hours. If you are lucky, you will see moose, grizzly bears, caribou, and maybe wolves. Most often, these animals will be at a considerable distance from the bus. Bring good binoculars. The... More

My husband and I from the UK visited here many years ago on one of our visits to Alaska and I have only just commented as I keep finding different things to leave comments about on Trip Advisor. It was a very early start something like 5.30am if I remember correctly but the scenery on this tour is exceptional, however... More

this was a 7 hour bus tour through Denali park. The bus is not a tour bus but similar to a school bus with a little overhead storage. We ordered a box lunch from the lodge before we left. We had a few "rest" stops that were fancy outhouses. I will say that it did get a little old after... More

We kept reading and hearing from people who had had a fabulous tour and, although I had seen a few comments about bad experiences, I figured, the odds were in our favour. Sadly for us, we crapped out with our tour guide. It is hard to convey how deeply disappointed we were with the guide on our Wilderness Tundra Tour,... More

We were lucky to see grizzly bears, moose, caribou, and dall sheep. Others at our hotel had gone the previous day and seen nothing. As our excellent driver-guide mentioned, it's not a zoo where animals are on display. We took a box lunch, and the bus made frequent stops to use facilities. The driver had a video camera to train... Now I was worried about being on a converted school bus for 8 hours and I also have a short attention span. No worries at all the day passed quickly listening to the guidesstories, keeping our eyes out for wildlife and just enjoying the scenery which was amazing how much it changed. We were lucky to have reasonably good weather... More

You haven't seen Alaska if you haven't been to Denali, and the Tundra Wilderness Tour is a great way to experience its beauty and wildlife. Elk, moose, dahl sheep, grissley bears, eagles, and some really cute squirrels. Unspoiled wilderness stretching to the horizons in every direction.and Denali itself (formerly Mt. McKinley) with strikingly brilliant blue glaciers gleaming in the sun.... More
