Colors in the desert are subtle, but this spot along Artist's Drive is surprisingly colorful. A variety of mineral deposits, in colors of blue, green, red, yellow and brown stand out from the surrounding mountainsides. A wonderful photo opportunity. Get out of your car here...More

There is one spot on this road that is particularly nice--the artist's palette itself--cliffs or sands in multiple colors. But otherwise, the scenic drive is not particularly special. Very popular though.

The palette is interesting to see the Rocks with many colours. I would recommend doing this site for the drive too.

This one way loop on the road is worthy of a trip. The rock formations are fascinating and you’ll get great pics. The drive is on windy roads but they are well maintained.

Artists Palette is a 20 min detour scenic drive on a one way road through Death Valley. This is a beautiful scenic loop with wonderful rock formations and colorations. If you are going through Death Valley, check this off as a quick must see.

I am not sure why Artists Drive is closed, the road seemed perfect to me. You can pull off to the side of the main road and walk to the area......once there, walk up to the ridge, you can look all over the Palette from up... More
