A peak into the desert

This is a nice welcome spot to stop driving in from the West. There are views of both the desert and the mountains. There is a good amount of parking. Facilities, too.

Arriving from the west side of the park, this is the first viewpoint to stretch your legs after a long drive, before you drop down into the Panamint Springs area (where prices for gas and snacks at the store are outrageous, keep going to Stovepipe Wells) of Death Valley itself. Take the time to walk out to the point towards... More

We only stopped for a moment and had just missed jets from the Naval Base flying up the canyon. The view was worth it though.

Worth a stop if you are heading out the west side of the park, but not worth the drive over if you are only hiking in the east part.

It's good to get some angles here at Father Crowley Vista Point. This is at the entrance to Death Valley but is not a main highlight. It's good but it can be skipped if necessary.

If you arrive the Death Valley on CA190 from the west, take a quick stop at Father Crowley Vista Point to see panoramic views of the northern end of Panamint Valley in Death Valley. There is a paved parking with restrooms, and a gravel road that leads to an even better view below.

As a Vista Point, nothing extraordinary. there are better ones inside the park. But, there is an airfare training area nearby, and it's cool to see the jets flying into the area to practice.

Stopped here on our way out of Death Valley - just a place to stretch legs for 10 mins, nice view, but there are better places to see around the location. Be prepared to hold your breath if using the rest rooms!

WE stopped here by chance last Sunday pm to see the air force planes going around on our way back from death valley - good quick stop - we got lucky with 2 fighter planes practicing around and went through the small canyon, which you dont get to see everyday (no pics unfortunately as we didn't expect that) - has...
