Pulled off on our way from Lone Pine. While it is not a destination point in and of itself... we enjoyed the views, stretching our legs and found the Father Crowley Vista totally worthy of stopping the car!

Father Crowley Vista Point is an overlook on Hwy 190 on the west side of the park. It has a good view of the Rainbow Canyon below. There is a decent-sized parking lot. To the right of the parking lot, there is a 0.5 mi...More

Finally got enough bars on AT & T to get email and voice mail! You'll be driving soon enough where there are no bars! Starkly beautiful views. Good place to stretch legs and feel the warmth of the sun.

We stopped at the Furnace Creek Visitors center to ask if they knew when the F18 fighter jets might be flying through the Rainbow Canyon. We were told that it's often just before lunch time. We arrived at Father Crowley Vista Point about 11:20am, just...More

Large parking area, not many people. In December 2017, a little windy. Beautiful vistas of the area.

Father Crowley is at the west end of the park so if you're entering from the west then be sure to stop. If you're exiting from the west, be sure to stop too! Nice vista point.

Father Crowley Vista Point is a great place to stop for a break. It's often very windy. The restroom is well maintained, and free parking is always available when I pass through. As for the view, it is nice as the elevation is high with...More

Coming from the west (Hw 395), it was getting dark as we drove the 190 towards Panamint Springs (where we stayed overnight) so we did not make a stop. The next morning, before continuing into Death Valley, we backtracked up to Father Crowley overlook and...More

Incredible first view of things to come. The view from up here is amazing. We were even surprised by a fighter jet flying through the canyon to our left, 50 feet from us. Incredible experience. This location shows wide angle view of the valley below.

There was a sign with a picture of jet fighters there at the parking lot, and I took a picture of that. While we were there in June, the jets did not fly by. As they come from the nearby Air Force base, I guess it would... More
