I have wanted to visit Carlsbad Caverns for most of my life. Today, while on my retirement road trip of the lower 48, I finally made it happen. The caverns were everything I had hoped for and way, way more. I have been in two caverns in Virginia, but as good as Luray, for example, is, it just cannot compare... More

Personally, I found the visitors center to be pretty average. The queue for tickets and the elevator was confusing and the place just wasn't that pretty or educational. Part of the problem is the volume of people that go through here. It is overwhelming. The bathrooms were nice, and the rangers were great. Our kids did the Junior Ranger and... More

These are the largest caverns we have ever seen! You can take the natural trail to go down which takes about one hour. It's 750 feet below the surface. Or you can take the elevator to go down and up. 600,000 square feet of cavern and amazing shapes and colors. Definitely worth the stop. Go early 9am to get a... More

Walked the cave instead of taking the elevator. If you walk, you see over one mile more of the cave that those taking the elevator do not see. Everything about this huge cave is amazing and awesome. Unbelievable!!!! Everyone should go.

Watch the film. Read the exhibits. Acquaint yourself before you make the journey down into the caverns. It will greatly improve your experience. The cavern itself is not wheelchair accessible, but if you have mobility issued and/or use a cane, you may absolutely visit the "Big Room" via the elevator in the Visitor's Center. You may also be able to... More

WOW this place is so beatiful from inside specially if you love natural places. I can say walk down when you visit this place and come up in lift thats best way to walk in this place. It is so natural worth visiting one time in life for sure.

The visitors center was well staffed we extremely helpful people to assist us in getting our passes for the park (in our case, we purchased and annual pass for all National Parks). We had also made reservations for the King's Palace tour and they were also helpful in getting the tickets and explaining where we needed to meet for our... More

This was the fourth caverns that I have visited and hubbys first. "Amazing" is what he kept repeating during our self guided tour. We only did the Big room loop which took us about two hours. Would love to have done the entire thing but got there a bit late. To get to the caverns you have to take a... More

I feel lucky to have had an opportunity to visit this amazing National Park. We love visiting NPs and Carlsbad is close to the top of the list of favorites. Book tours ahead of time. They are well worth it. The Left Handed Tunnel tour was especially interesting. If you are able to this is a must see.

The actual national Park part of the visitor center is pretty cool and gives you good education about the caves. The unfortunate part is that I think the large store and other non-educational parts sort of take away from it because they're a big distraction. I especially noticed that children mostly wanted to be in the store, and not necessarily... More
