The caverns were absolutely spectacular, but if mobility is an issue, be sure to check whether the elevators are working before you go! When we visited last week, the elevators were out of order, and it was a real challenge navigating the extremely steep ramp...More

I cannot believe we thought for a moment this would be fun. The amount of people here is ridiculous! It’s so commercialized and touristy, they have even adapted to accommodate everyone. First of all, this is a National Park, full of NATURE! It is not...More

Important caveats about access to this gem attraction are below. But don't let those deter you from visiting this unforgettable, awe-inspiring natural phenomenon. I have visited "caverns" elsewhere in the U.S. and the world, but Carlsbad exceeds their majesty. Eight stories below the surface of...More

You cannot miss this spectacular place. There is beauty wherever you look. The directions are clear and roped walkway is easy to navigate even for someone with bad knees. The elevator descends to 710 feet below the surface. It's eerie and sooo beautiful. Be sure and...More

You have to go through the visitor center in order to get into the caverns - there is no fee - plenty of good information as well as a short film - Rangers there to answer questions - good overall experience!

With the elevator not working it was a real challenge for many, including us, to see very much of the cavern. Extremely steep, although well constructed, zig-zag concrete walking ramps into the natural entrance. Some up at to a 20 degree angle. Going down not...More

An amazing, beautiful and unique place to visit. Please note that last tickets are being sold at 3:30. The trail includes 1.2 miles walking down to the big room which is another 1.2 miles walk (no elevation) and then 1.2 miles climbing up. It's a...More

I have taken the trip to the Caverns 3 times in the past 30 years and it has gotten continually worse. All the fun and joy has been sucked out of this attraction by geological purists. Gone are all the colored lights and fun signage...More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Carlsbad National Park. We went on the self-guided tours through the Natural Entrance and the first half of the Big Room. We then went on a ranger led tour of Kings and Queens Palaces. My 5 year old was...More

This park is awesome and a wonder to see. Even with the elevator broken the hike was worth every step! A wonder to see.

Yes and I would bring the wheelchair. They have a elevator you can use to go down and back up to the Big room area. It is too steep to walk down and takes about an hour. You will enjoy it. While your there the restaurant in... More

I wasn't aware of those tours. We did the complete walking tour. You enter from the outside and see parts of the cave that those who take the elevator do not. We thought that was the best.
