The Bottomless Pit is a big hole in the floor of the Big Room. There is a sign along the walkway that points out the Bottomless Pit. The pit is 140 feet deep.

Told our 9 year old granddaughter we were going to throw her in. Not really bottomless, but so dark down there that it looks like it is. Actually 140 Ft deep. Along the trail around the Big Room.

Another one of the amazing things to see in the Big Room at Carlsbad Caverns! If you keep it in the proper historical perspective this is an amazing thing, also in low light it is very believable as it is described.

Not entirely sure why this is an attraction within itself, as it is just another feature inside the cave on the Big Room trail. The sheer size of it is still neat!
