This is an interesting place with a unique view. The trail is a little steep but very short to a simple little overlook. A nice thing to do in the evening after a long day in the park.

From Panorama Point in the northern area of the Capitol Reef National Park, you can drive a short additional distance over to the Goosenecks Overlook parking area, where there are immediate trailheads to access a view to the creek 550 feet below you. The Goosenecks...More

The turnoff to Goosenecks Overlook is well marked. The drive to the parking area is not bad, but pretty twisty and the road is dirt. Once you park there is just a small hill to climb to a well maintained lookout with a railing. We...More

We could not be there at sunset, but it looked like sunrise or sunset would be very interesting to see the sun's effects on the colors of the cliffs.

As we were staying at in Mexican Hat seemed silly to miss one of the local view areas. Thought Horseshoe Bend view would be hard to beat but Goosenecks tops it easily. A lot quieter and more accessible than the Bend and the views are...More

This is the point of view to really slot canyon. Horribly view! very fearfully look from cliff to gorge bottom. Unfortunately, there no marked trail to descent, here is view point only. But it is worse spend some time for this point!

Beautiful scenery and it's easy to get to! We watched the sunset and stars near this location. It was amazing!

A neat place to visit just east of Capital Reef National Park is the Gooseneck Viewpoint off Rt 24. Here you can see how the Sulphur Creek, snaking its way through many layers of the Colorado Plateau and carving out an 800 foot deep canyon....More
