In some ways, this park rivals the Grand Canyon because you have more clarity in the views. it's nice not to have the crowds. easy trail and views forever

In preparation for this trip, I read heaps of reviews and watched an embarrassing amount of youtube videos. I felt like that did help but let me add some thoughts with the hope of helping others. We took the clockwise route, starting at Shafer Trail and finishing at the Mineral Bottom Switchbacks. We camped 2 nights, Gooseberry B the first... More

My wife and I hiked this trail right after lunch on a Friday in early October 2016. This trail was not crowded, since sunset is its prime time. We were able to park easily and encountered very few people when we hiked. The view at the end is spectacular and well worth the almost a mile each way.

Started our drive down the trail pretty late, around 10:30 in the morning due to waiting for the ranger station to open at 9 a.m. and dealing with check in process. After check in, we had to checked out the famous Mesa Arch before heading down the Canyon. We choose to drive from top to bottom, as driving the opposite... More

This is one LONG amazing day. We did the whole loop In 11 hours stopping along the way for pictures and a picnic lunch. My husband had done it before on a motorbike and we came again to do it with the Jeep. We got our day permit online so went in at 6:30 am and didn't get out until... More

This is a fantastic drive if you have 2 days to spend in Canyonlands. We were able to drive from the visitor's center/Shafer Trail switchbacks to the Murphy Hogsback camp in about 5 hours (with many stops for pictures), camp overnight, and then drive out of the park through the Mineral Road switchbacks in about 4 hours (BLM 129 on... My friend encouraged me and my family to go with them and camp overnight. We made it a three day trip and camped in two different spots and enjoyed every minute of it. There's such a wide range of scenery to see on this trip from the White Rim canyon to the beautiful red rocks and the view of other... More

We have both driven and bicycled this trail. You need a high clearance 4X4 vehicle to go here. This is a pretty easy trail, good for inexperienced off roaders. Don't miss Mussleman Arch. It's so cool! Also, check out the chert knappings on the ground at White Crack. There's a trail there, you can hike down and see chert deposits.... More

We did the whole trail in 9 hours. Beautiful scenery. Rough roads, tight switchbacks, narrow squeezes and high ledges. I'm not a fan of heights, but I survived. Murphy's Hogback and Hardscrabble Hill will test anyone's nerves. Now that I've calmed down, I think I would do it again.

What an amazing way to celebrate a friends milestone birthday! We went with Holiday Rivers Guiding and they helped make the entire experience that much better. I'm a novice mountain biker and this trail challenged me at times (i walked up a lot of Murphy's Hogback and Hardscrabble) but it also invigorated me and gave me memories for a lifetime!... More
