Epic!

A bit out of the way but worth every mile! Must do the pothole trail, super easy and life changing views! In the winter the fee booth is closed. I had the whole park to myself! I... read more

A bit out of the way but worth every mile! Must do the pothole trail, super easy and life changing views! In the winter the fee booth is closed. I had the whole park to myself! I saw maybe two other vehicles in the two hours I was in the park. This likely contributed to my soulful experience. Do not... More

not nearly as much traffic and people as the Canyonlands North entrance, but we really enjoyed the quiet walks we did there and the rangers were so helpful in pointing out walks for us to take.

Long drive from Moab, Long hikes and not much else when you get there. If you're a hiker its a must-do, Reccomend Lost Canyon but be aware the loop route is about 11 miles long as it is 2 trails joined, but a Great Hike!

This section of Canyonlands is definitely worth a visit, but it clearly is favored by the backpackers, mountain bikers, serious hikers, and four wheelers. That doesn't mean that you should avoid a visit if you are one of more modest ambition. You'll find a stop at the visitors center worthwhile for some tips commensurate with your interests. We recommend a... More

Long scenic drive to get to and from the (distant) viewpoint. Not really worth it. Did not feel up to a long hike. Should have gone to the needles overlook off Route 191 instead and had more time at Arches.

We were on our way from Hovenweep to Arches, and stopped here on the way. The Needles area of Canyonlands is the less visited part of the park. It is a long way off the main highway which is Hwy 191 but we thought worth the effort. We read some reviews that did not think much of this part of... More

We did the Chesler park loop/joint trail an 11 miles hike which was so beautiful. One of the best we've done. The view is fantastic especially on the way up and down (3 miles each direction) when you arrive at the saddle overlooking Chesler park where you can see colorful sandstone spires. It took around 6 hrs with stops. Recommended

Small visitor center in the Needles district -- sporadic gas facilities The Needles district of Canyonlands National Park is the less visited section of Canyonlands. It's fairly out of the way and it's a long ways after you get off of the main highway - US 191. The drive in is pretty enough. The needles district is good if you... More

This is quite a long drive from Moab where we were staying but certainly worth the time spent in the car. The route in includes great views and the rocks get more dramatic as you approach. There are good view points, a number of 4WD trails and many individual backpacking sites that don't require too long a walk in, just... More

Very disappointed in this park. From the condescending, almost hostile attitude of the "girl" at the entrance gate -did you ever see an officious bureaucrat who smiled with their mouth only? To the openly dismissive attitude of the staff in the "Needles Visitor Center". "Welcome to Canyon Lands-now leave." This is the ONLY National Park I ever went to where... More
