This is an excellent hike along a ridge line with alternate views of the Uncompahgre Valley and San Juan Mountains to the south west, and the Black Canyon to the north east. Although the hike is less than 1 mile in each direction, the elevation...More

This hike is about 1.6 miles round trip with pretty good footing, and lots of places to stop and say ahhhhh. There are a lot of birds to view also. Not difficult, but wear good shoes.

Sat on a stony outcrop near where we thought Warner Point was (not actually marked, that we could find) and watched kites, hummingbirds and hawks soaring over the steep canyon and listened to the river and the quiet of nature. Very pleasant.

A short hike at the end of the road leads you along a relatively short trail to another magnificent viewpoint. Great to get out of the car and stretch your legs with good views in all directions. Make the effort!

Don't miss the views no matter where you stop along the NP drive. Put in for a hiking permit and witness beauty and solitude like none other
