It's a 40 mile drive and worth every mile. The hills look like liquid sand has been piled up into mounds. There are some pastures and meadows with bison, lots of birds and toward the end there are Prairie Dog mounds. We saw 2 mountain sheep lying beside the road totally unconcerned by human spectators.

A beautiful place for a leisurely drive or hikes of varying intensity. Scenery that can't be found elsewhere makes this an astoundingly beautiful location during all seasons.

The badlands were incredible! The scenery is like something out of a Star Wars movie. Awesome views. Scenic drive. We barely passed up a scenic viewpoint

A wilderness we wouldn't like to get lost in or break down in the car. Second visit the first in sunshine and a few days later mist and rain, interesting remote place.

Wonderful drive thru the Badlands. Every turn revealed a sight as beautiful as the last. Could have spent hours soaking in all the beauty.

This is better than I expected it and is honestly one the best natural areas I've ever visited. There are SO MANY great overlooks and basically anywhere you look is a photo op. I highly recommend visiting, it's unique and beautiful. The wildlife was also fun to see--I saw prairie dogs and herds of big horn sheep!! I would also... More

This area is a short drive south of I-90. It is worth a couple hours to see this landscape. There are many trails to explore and interesting views.

It was beautiful! The food was delicious! The wait staff was friendly and hospitable. The Sioux Indian tacos were fantastic and authentic. The kuchen was delicious as well. We also had the Indian fried bread which was great. Finally the coffee was the best we had in the area during our one week vacation.

if you are on I 90 in South Dakota, stop here. There are so many short walks with great views. You will see wildlife..big horn sheep, meadowlarks....maybe rattlesnakes. Stop in the Visitor Center..so much there. if you can, book a room in the park. We stayed in Rapid City but it would have been amazing to stay inside the park... More

I went on a solo 2 week road trip and this was one of my stops. I figured I could just drive through, taking about an hour tops then go to my next destination... that was not the case! There was just too much to see. Tons of great photography opportunities, I had to keep pulling to the side of... More
