Due to road construction this year (2017), you can not make an online reservation. Go to the visitors center as soon as you arrive in the park to hopefully get 1 of 14 spots on a hike. This time of year only 2 hikes a day are offered, increases to 3 as it gets busier. $16 for adults, $8 for... More

With this hike you either have to have a guided tour or a permit. After buying the permit the day before the hike, we watched an orientation video on the dos and don'ts. The ranger then pretty much scared us. He said people get lost for hours or get hurt frequently trying to hike this area. There are a few... More

Loved it! Travis Lindsey was our guide and he was fabulous. This was our favorite hike in Arches. I'm afraid of heights but only one spot bothered me a little. There are a few tough spots if you're not sure footed. Our group was in their sixties but we are all runners and had no problem. One couple out of... More

As soon as you get to Arches, go straight to the visitor center to get a permit to do this hike. They limit the number of people who get to go each day, and you really want to go. I was able to get a permit for a non-guided tour for two days later. Cost was $6. I'd never been... More

Unfortunately not able to get a permit due to road construction, but went to the overlook and this area is amazing. A labyrinth of narrow fins and slots. You can see why navigation would be difficult. To get a permit you need to go to the Visitor Center and pay $6 plus watch a film and talk. Alternately you can... More

This hike is not to be missed. I can't imagine in the summer how sweltering it would be, but in early April, it was absolutely delightful. They were not quite doing Ranger lead tours which was fine for us as we are seasoned adventurers. You will read so much about how easy it is to get lost here and that... More

we were able to use the viewpoint at fiery furnace and see the breathtaking landscape, but they were not giving out permits to hike it due to road construction.

First of all, it takes some planning to do this hike. They only offer permits 48 hours in advance, in person at the visitor center at this time. We weren't quite sure what to expect when we arrived in the parking lot on the day of our hike. We fortunately crossed paths with someone else who had found the trail... More

This was our favorite hike in Arches! There are a few arrows along the hike to guide you but you'll end up exploring lots of dead ends before finding your way out, as the arrows are sparse and sometimes difficult to see. Get your permit as early as possible! We arrived at 9:30 AM and the permits were already gone... More

Our family of four had a great time hiking the Fiery Furnace last week (Apr 2017). Our first stop in Arches was to the visitor's center to get a hiking permit. We arrived Monday around 12:45 pm and the first permit available was for Thursday (one of the few left). You have to watch an 8 minute video and review... More
