Lovely area with restrooms and changing area. Small sand beach on the lake. The lake bottom is sandy with a very gentle slope. Nice area for relaxing, sunning or swimming. Some picnic tables. Bit of a hike from the parking lot if you bring a lot of gear with you. Chairs might be a good idea if you are going... More

The lake is gorgeous, and one of the few allowed swimming areas on the island. Unfortunately, dogs aren't permitted...so their people don't visit either.

It was a nice break from the sightseeing and overall attractions and hiking. The beach was surprising small, but the occupancy was not overbearing by any means. It was quiet, especially nice for kids. The water was shallow and safe, and very clean.

We stopped by in the late afternoon with our little kids. The water wasn't too cold but the area was shaded by a mountain and there was a breeze so it was a little cold for me. The kids didn't seem to mind. The beach is made up of coarse sand. The water depth gradually increases, no dropoffs in the... More

This lake is the only one I know of in the park that you can swim in. It is very shallow at the end where the road lets you park, so the water gets warm enough to swim in. The cliff to the left of the beach is very high and nice to look at. There are showers and rest... More

This is the only lake you can swim in at Acadia. We did the hike right out of the parking lot first, which was a great first hike of the week, it's pretty easy with some ladders and great views. Afterwards the lake was very refreshing. Later in the week we headed down to the ledges at Echo lake to... More

The water is actually warm enough to enjoy swimming here, unlike at sand beach. There is a lifeguard. It's a pretty spot and would be great for a canoe/kayak as well. I think one of the buses does stop here, but we just drove and parking was not an issue for us.

Easy access via the road just past the guard rails heading south, parking before the guard rail/lake off is also allowed and a great place to swim and or launch your kayaks. 9 more of a locals spot) The water is so clean and refreshing and has views of Beech Mt.

A beautiful white sandy stretch of beach in the National Park. We visited late in the evening when most of the crowds had left for the day and only found two other couples on the beach. I can imagine it gets very crowded at other times of the year but when we visited it was like stumbling across a little... More

A beautiful and largely quiet spot. Very fine views for photography and canoeing here. Find this on the way to Northeast Harbor.
