About
The Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk is an exciting eco-adventure offering guests a unique and thrilling way to explore the beautiful rainforest canopies in a safe and secure way. The 1.5km walk is a combination of forest floor trails, 300 meters of high-tech steel bridges tracking through the highest points of the upper canopy and a 40-metre cantilever bridge that soars a breathtaking 30 metres above the creek and rainforest below.

Other than walking on a metal overhead walkway looking out over the surrounding rainforest, there was little to justify the $18 odd dollars it cost. One example of a flowering orchid high up in the tree, several signs posted near a number of trees, but not really identifying which one it actually was? A beautifully carved seat near the exit was certainly worth seeing, and I did get some easy exercise...but not much else to recommend.

The skywalk itself is only short and not what we were expecting. Rather disappointed. You walk a short way on the skywalk then you are back on the ground again and its a short stroll to the river lookout which is quite nice. Its not worth the money at all would be better priced at $10 for what it is. Staff were lovely and friendly. You are better off doing O'Reillys which has a longer skywalk and its free. I wouldnt do it again and wouldnt recommend it. Its 1.5km round trip walk. I did it in 35mins and I dont walk fast. Skywalk itself is 5mins.

We were there with our adult son. The staff were very friendly and explained the route. It's very well signposted and the 1.5klm is very easy with only 1 or 2 very short areas on a bit of a slope. The cantilever isn't as high as others I've been on and if you don't like heights, don't look down just admire the trees.
It was all over in less than 45 minutes and for $20 adults and $16.50 for pensioners the pricing is fair considering how much it would have cost to build. The gift shop was good but on the day we were there (Friday in excellent weather), there was no food to buy except drinks, coffee, biscuits and some snacks.

Having seen the beauty of the Skywalk in the brochure and website, this has been on my to do list for quite some time.

My family of 5 and I drove 1.5 hours for the experience that disappointingly was over in a mere 35 minutes (walking slowly) for the incredibly overpriced fee of $84!

Being a Northern NSW local, there are numerous nature walks, rainforests and waterfalls to experience on both sides of the border. Long leisurely walks, challenging hikes and opportunities to encounter wildlife, stop and take a moment, snap some photos etc and all for free.

These experiences almost always bring about a feeling of 'connection through disconnection' and I usually exit the experience feeling enriched and enlivened.
The Skywalk was disappointingly the opposite of that.

The "Skywalk" itself was a very short 200 m and the rest of the walk was on the forest floor and onto a smaller Skywalk lookout. No wildlife were seen or heard and the experience was over so fast we felt maybe we took a wrong turn. Overall we each felt ripped off by the experience which was only compensated by the 30 minute (FREE) stroll to the beautiful Curtis Falls just down the road. Yes the perspective of being above the trees was different but overall I wouldn't recommend paying for something that can be experienced 10 x better for free in the area and surrounds.

We are very sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your experience at the Skywalk. As we are extremely proud of our walk I feel it necessary to clear up a few of the points you have raised. The Skywalk is a 1.5km circuit combining 2 bridges, the first being just over 300 meters and the second our cantilever which is about 40 meters long and soars approximately 30 meters above the creek below. The Skywalk is a place to read and learn about the Rainforest and there is a vast amount of information to take in on the way around and we highly recommend to do this as it's a huge part of the experience. Our prices for a family of 2 adults and 4 children (6-16 years) would be $59. The Skywalk is a family owned business that receives no government funding and employs around 12 locals. A portion of the ticket price goes towards protecting the property from invasive noxious weeds and other domestic and introduced pests. We believe the Skywalk is a unique and thrilling way to experience and enjoy Sub tropical Rainforest.

Save your money, there are much better walks in the area for free. This is a privately owned business and it’s wrong that they charge what they do including taking advantage of tourists by charging $6.50 for a bottle of water. Whilst maybe it’s ok with the bridge, for a 1.5km walk that took us 20mins walking at an average pace for $19.50 per adult, I believe that is not value for money. At least the saving grace is some of the money is at least donated to conservation. I didn’t see how much though or what % is donated. Maybe having that advertised might make it more palatable. (I may have overlooked this signage though)

On a positive it’s a more accessible walk than others that may need assistance walking as the track is well maintained.

Thank you for your review and coming in to visit us. We are Queensland's only family owned tree top walk. Whilst we love inviting the public into this special section of rainforest, the only way we can stay open is by having an admission price. This price helps us maintain over 340 metres of steel structures, keeps our eco centre, gift shop, cafe and clean toilets open and our beautiful staff here to greet everyone. The walk usually takes our visitors 40 minutes. That includes time to take photos, read the information plaques and take time to stop and view the diverse range of fauna and flora. You may have bought two bottles of water for $6.50! That is very expensive, we have never had a juice, soft drink or water that cost $6.50. If we have charged you incorrectly you are always more than welcome to contact us! We do donate to many organizations and charities and it differs every year due to demand. If you would like to chat to us about this further, again please feel welcome to contact us directly.

The walk 30 m above ground on a metal catwalk was excellent - among the tree tops and with helpful signs everywhere identifying different trees. The walk at ground level through the rainforest was also very pleasant and very quiet. At $16.00 or so entry it is not cheap but it is worth it for the forty-five minute ramble through nature.

Fantastic only $19 for adults but well worth it the walk was beautiful the creek was running & plenty of rest stops along the way if required. The cafe was unfortunately shut due to the virus but would normally be perfect spot to sit & relax on verandah. Also a beautiful range of gift wear for sale & very reasonable priced. Would return with kids in future or any age adult.

A wonderful way to take a walk through a sub-tropical rainforest wilderness canopy, in one of the worlds few remaining rainforests. You will experience the vines, trees, orchids, palms and undergrowth up close and personal too, as the track does wind on and off the walkway. Some sections go down along the ground (past the burrows of many creatures, lizards, birds, and carvings) that lead to the rushing water at the creek bed; making it a completely immersive experience.

This was my second visit and it was just as magnificent as the first. It's become a staple each time I pass through (to show visiting friends around the Scenic Rim). I would recommend a short drive from here to the glow worm caves (to round out an unforgettable day at Mt Tambourine).

I don't know how this place can charge $20 just to see rocks and a small little waterfall. By the billboard picture out the front, I thought it was going to be something spactular. There are alot of other places that are far better without a price tag.

It was 8+ years since I had been to Tamborine, and had never done (or knew about) the Rainforest Skywalk. The attraction reminded me a lot of both the Mamu Tropical Skywalk and Daintree Discovery Centre in FNQ (where I lived for 6 years) which also have high treetop walks through the rainforest canopy. The Tamborine skywalk was not quite impressive for me, possibly due to the location (Tamborine cannot compete with the world-class diversity of the Daintree and Tablelands rainforests) but I was still very glad I came and I enjoyed the views, the signage explaining various plants and trees, and most of all, being in the canopy. The cost for an adult was $19.50 which I thought was reasonable given this is a local business where the profits go back into preserving the local rainforest. If pressed for cash though, you could probably skip and enjoy one of the free National Park Walks (e.g. Curtis Falls, Witches Falls), which won’t get you towering up in the rainforest canopy but will certainly let you experience the rainforests of Mount Tamborine and enjoy some great views. Only negative – lots of people and thin walkways make it a little less immersive as you are constantly having to dodge people. Come early before the crowds arrive! There were also lots of mozzies, so take your repellent (I forgot mine, but complimented another guy who was well prepared and was applying it eagerly in the café)
