Cool that we saw it and got a photo
We all thought it was cool to see this sign and learn about the history of the company and the runner behind this image. We came, we saw and got our photo then we went on with the rest of our tour. It’s a very busy area, especially at night. Also thought it was cool that this area was shown in the most recent John Wick movie.

Strange attraction, but everyone goes there for the photo!
The Running Man is a curious tourist attraction. Why is it so famous?? Well, for one thing, it’s been there a while. It was erected in 1935. It’s the mascot of the candy company Glico, and it’s a landmark of the Dotonbori district. None of which explains why we did what everyone else does and photographed ourselves (from the bridge on the canal) pretending to run like the Running Man, with him in the background. It’s a mystery to me and no I am not adding the photo here. Also, is it time to change the sign to a Running Woman, Glico?

    Fun photo stop
It’s a classic sign - nester at night but if you want to be in the picture nice to see during the day. By H&M to the left are yellow steps- go up there for a viewing platform where people queue so you get your own, nice photo. I waited less than 3 minutes to get the picture.

Note sure exactly what the craze over this sign is, but it seems to have staying power in attracting visitors to come and pose with it or just photograph it along with the river and other neon signs. Of course, we ended up taking photos too; wouldn't want to be left out!

Just for fun we got our photo of the Famous Glico running man. Why well he has been there since 1935 and is part of the famous Dotombori street. Now we just have to buy some Glico candy!

*Disclaimer - I do not enjoy busy environments and prefer to have ample personal space.
I visited Osaka as a date and went past the famous Dotonbori Glico-san sign. THIS PLACE IS VERY CROWDED, BUSY AND HECTIC.
I understand that this is one of the most famous street and the Glico-san has some impression that lasts. However, I would not recommend this to people as suffering under the traffic and crowd is intolerable. After taking a picture (posted) from a 10 minute wait, I couldn’t enjoy the street and atmosphere but had to just move on to my next schedule

Probably the most popular and well known landmarks of the area, this signage has stood the test of time (over 70 years) there and became a hot spot for visitors, especially tourists to come and take photos with it and with the same posture!

In our recent revisit to Osaka, we also came back here to take photos with it and it's good to be back here!

Nothing special about the glico sign as such, but the view of dotonbori area illuminated with all the signboards is special. As a tourist this is what you mentally picture Japan would be like.

From what I’ve read this “Running Man” is a symbol for Glico candy. Not sure what the excitement is over this sign. But of course, I had to take a picture like many others before me.
