The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Ginza / Tokyo Nihonbashi
Ginza is famous for being a trendy hotspot, but it's also a downtown area with shops that were founded over a hundred years ago. Department stores and luxury boutiques line the route from Nihonbashi to Ginza. It's a long established tradition to shop and stroll while the road is closed to traffic. Luxury hotels, world class cuisine from talented chefs, and a collection of glitzy clubs will make this area popular with anyone looking for a night out.

Upmarket boutiques and designer brands with lovely eateries. Located in front of Tokyo station. I would say worth a stop if in the area but don't make a special trip. Lovely building. Clean and well looked after but lacks soul post C-19.

KITTE MARUNOUTHI📮

"KITTE" is a building in front of Tokyo Station, which has the meaning of "Stamp"
and the meaning of "Coming" when translated into Japan.🤔
This is a building of "Japan Post" , but it is also a building that is popular with tourists as it has an observation space, shops, and restaurants.
The tree lights are lit up beautifully at Christmas, making it a popular spot for couple.📮🎄🥺

Could not have been any better. My wife and son have begged me for years to at least try it, back in the US. Now in Tokyo how could I not! It was fantastic.

駅近なので、時間つぶしにはよいかも。

A building with a bit of everything. Great food (seriously good sushi restaurant), interesting shops, a good supermarket (B1) and a fabulous and free natural science museum.

Enjoyed browsing in the shops here. It differentiates from other shopping centres, of which there are so many in Tokyo, by the number of specialty shops and the focus on design. Went back three times in my short stay!
Check out the Good Design Store on the 3rd floor which is full of random items - clothes, household, wallets etc. All with one thing in common - Innovative design!
On the 4th floor, I found the lightest foldable umbrella ever!
Bring along your passport as a number of these shops are Tax-Free ones for tourists.

Nicely designed shopping mall at the foot of the JP tower incorporates the former post office and has probably my favourite group of homewares shops at decent prices. You find things here like kitchen supplies, incense from Kyoto, Tokyo design items, night cloths and fashion. No disco music and nice for gentle shopping with no pressure. It’s worth heading up to the garden on the rooftop for views of Tokyo station and also heading to the letter room.

A modern shopping mall adjacent to the Tokyo JR Station. Inside the mall are a mixture of middle to high end restaurants. Guests should have no difficulty in finding one that suits individual needs. At the basement is an Information centre for Japan travels. Tourists can obtain from here all sorts of information for Japan sightseeing and tours, and also a taste of Japanese culture. The staff here speak good English and Putonghua. On the second and third floors is a entrance free museum on “developments”. There is a rooftop garden on the 6th floor, where guests can relax and have a good view of the nearby Tokyo Station - one of Tokyo’s historical landmarks.

The Kitte building has shops, a viewpoint that overlooks Tokyo station, and, the best aspect for me, lots and lots of interesting restaurants. At lunch time, you can get a good meal at most of the restaurants for 1,000 yen or less. There’s every possible kind of food, including Japanese home-style cooking, Okinawa food, salads, Italian food (pizza and pasta), Belgian food, beer joints, ramen, Chinese food, you name it, it’s there.
On the B1 floor, there’s a small supermarket where I found some specialty crackers that I’ve been looking for everywhere (else) for more than a year. There are also convenience stores selling box lunches and bottled and canned drinks.
Some of the restaurants have long lines at lunchtime. You can wait, of course, or you could go to one with a shorter (or no) line, and most likely get as good a lunch.
There are many shops selling a range of goods at a range of prices. In the pedestrian mall area on the lower floors, there are what appear to be farmers’ markets, selling fresh produce, artisanal honey, and whatnot.
“Kitte” in Japanese means “stamp”, as in “postage stamp”. The building used to be the Central Post Office. It’s directly across from Tokyo station. Exit the station by the Marunouchi South exit.
