    Japan 2023
Fantastic holiday in Japan, will go back at some stage for sure. We did a bus tour this time but would be comfortable doing the travelling around ourselves. Yes, it can be challenging sometimes but everyone so helpful and the language was of no barrier at all. Sure, there are lots of people around but never felt pushed, shoved or intimidated. I would definately do extra homework on the food varieties for next time. Beautiful country, beautiful people. We explored this shopping street on our second last day, we stayed in Namba that night. It was just beyond words, shops upon shops upon shops, just WOW 👏👏❤️👍

Lots to see, shop and eat!
This is a must visit place in downtown Osaka where one can simply spend a day here to see, shop and eat! And the place is always fulled of visitors, adding vibes and vibrancy to the place. In our recent revisit to Osaka, we also went there and as we were there early (around 10am), it was not that crowded then but in about an hour's time, it's packed with people. Lots of cafes, restaurants, eateries, departmental stores, among the boutique, pharmacy and convenience stores are in the area and so you need not worry where to shop or eat!

    Undercover Shopping Street
This 600m long straight line undercover shopping street has it all. Budget or luxury you’ll find something that interests you. The northern end tends to be budget shopping & the southern end closer to the Dotonbori river is more luxury. Only downside is the street can get packed to the rafters late afternoon into the night. The closer to the river the more packed it’ll be.

Has to be seen to be believed
We were staying for a few nights at a nearby hotel and when we arrived from the subway on a busy Sunday night with our luggage, we got a shock. This street is huge and absolutely rammed full of people. On other nights it was a bit quieter but it's a great experience and there's a really good range of shops.

    Good Shopping Street Area
We stayed in the Shinsaibashi-Suji Shopping Street area for convenience and affordability. There are lots of reasonably priced options for food, drinks and shopping. We also found the nearby Shinsaibashi Station was well connected for the things we wanted to do and see while visiting Osaka. Outside exit 4A of Shinsaibashi Station we found a small Godzilla statue that was put their to commemorate the 1955 Godzilla Raids Again movie and it is a short walk to the Godzilla Store from here. We visited Osaka around New Year's and the major chains for shops and restaurants were open but some of the smaller business were closed including many restaurants we were looking forward to trying. This is normal this time of year as many people will spend time with their families so keep this in mind if you're here around Christmas or New Year's. A plus for us during our visit is that we got to see the shopping street without too many people when we were there New Year's Day but my wife was looking for some warmer clothes and there was very limited hours at the stores that were open.

    A fabulous shopping experience .
Amongst all Japan’s cities I visited , Tokyo , kyoto I found this street in Osaka a delight to shop . A long street with stand alone shops of major brands in fashion , food and miscellaneous its vibrant through the year . Parallel to this street on the main road you’ll find higher brands . It touches the Dotonbari river with the food joints of Kobe beef and authentic Japanese cuisine lined up in all the inner streets. Don’t miss the 3D Signages of chefs and crabs and a small cruise on the river . Choose the boat wisely .. the one with the open top and vibrant music is the one to be in.

This shopping street goes on for miles with all sorts of wares on offer, from labels to cafes,to drug stores aplenty. Everything doesn't open until 11 am and closes late. Be prepared for Kamakazi bike riders criss crossing the strip and also heaps and heaps of people.Be mindful of the their traffic lights as they are above a lot of walkways and you have to have your wits about you.If you get caught Jay walking you will be booked!!!

Shinsaibashi-Suji Shopping Street is a bustling and vibrant shopping district located in the city. Spanning over 600 meters, this street is home to shops, restaurants, and cafes that cater to a wide range of tastes and preferences. We found everything from high-end fashion boutiques to affordable souvenir shops, as well as traditional Japanese goods and street food. The atmosphere is lively and energetic, making it a popular destination for both locals and tourists. Whether you're looking to shop, eat, or simply soak up the lively atmosphere, Shinsaibashi-Suji Shopping Street is definitely worth a visit.

Came here to take a pic of the glico man. It’s like a must here. Haha. Apart from that if you love shopping, one afternoon at this place might not be enough. It’s just way too many shops and though it’s crowded it’s still spacious enough to move around. Tried to find masks here this season for you-know-what virus but it was out of stock in the seemingly more than 50 stores of drugstore here. Whenever it’s up on the shelf, people would just grab and it’s gone the next second.

It's a very long stretch of arcade with shops of almost all varieties;fashion boutiques, pharmacies; shoe-shops, restaurants, secondhand stores (Kinji- 2 stores within one big building, Book-Off plus), beauty stores, even a big Pokemon Centre on the 9th floor of Daimaru, Uniqlo and Amerikamura.. We spent three nights browsing.
It was winter. Even so, the streets were very crowded at night.
Entrance to Shinsaibashi Station was inside Daimaru Departmental Store.

If you are a regular traveler, you will inevitably gravitate here to see what the hype is all about. If you are someone who is after the shopping, you will find yourselves walking up and down this long shopping arcade multiple times during your time in Osaka. There are shops, restaurants, and even shopping centers along this stretch of road. Accessible to public transport through the Shinsaibashi Osaka Metro Station. Other than early morning, it does get very crowded.

Shinsaibashi has to be the longest shopping streets I have seen. It is so long you can hardly see the end of the street if you can see above the crowd. You can find all types of shopping including plenty of places to eat. A must for real shoppers who visit Osaka.

Really long shopping arcade that is a must-do if visiting Osaka for the first time. You can walk all the way from St. Regis Osaka at Hommachi station and cut through the central area under the covered street, so weather is not a deterrent. Really good bargains to be had at nameless tiny shops, lots of restaurants and general Osaka character. i love going there.
