Off the main Gion street, this one is a walk down history. Old houses, a brush with a geiko, narrow streets, quaint road signs, Gion at its best and most symbolic.

We visited here and it was an enjoyable walk. It was about lunchtime and relatively busy as well as raining but that didn't distract from the amazing architecture and the quaint street.

entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners,
Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with
gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the
streets on their way to and from work, where they fan
dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion
