movement and non verbal story telling, in a intimate and beautiful setting. The best Butoh show I have ever seen, videos and pictures will never do this art form justice.

Butoh dance is tortured, but beautiful, and to see it in such an intimate place (10 persons max), it's really a strong experience.

This avantgarde Japanese dance form is singular in it's ability to transport ine into another world, a dream world through movement that spans from sublime to grotesque. Kyoto Butoh-kan is an otherworldly experience that you will not forget.

I definitely encourage you to look at some online video. This type of dance is rather special and might look boring for most people.

This is an absolute must do while in Japan. The sessions sell out quickly so I advise to plan ahead 🤗

If there was an experience to make time stand still, this was it. An incredible powerful, intimate and moving performance. There are only a limited amount of people who can attend each performance (I think up to 10); so make sure you book in advance...More

Pure emotion, really genuine . Perfect place, live music upstairs. In my opinion, one the best things to do in Kioto, perhaps better than a lot of crowded temples

The two shows I saw were utterly mind blowing experiences. This is art at its highest level and form. Feel it, and know it.

I watched "Underworld Flower" (黄泉の花)at Kyoto Butoh-Kan last night. I had some guests visiting from Barcelona, and we all attended together. I am familiar with Butoh but it was their first time to experience or even hear of Butoh. We all really enjoyed the performance...More

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its
blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered
shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street
bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to
peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home
goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center
is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and
