Beautiful area, beautiful beach. We rented a condo. Some very good restaurants. One in particular was Tiramisu. Don't miss a side trip to San Bartolo to get some local flavor. Try the fruit smoothies in the outdoor market.

Public beach with private features
Jan. 2015 • Family
Santa Maria is located about an hour outside the city of Lima on the Pan-American Highway. Many of the beaches around Lima are for club members only. Santa Maria is in a regulated community, but the public is allowed to enter and use the beaches. There is a slight cost to park, but it is well worth it. We went to the beach in Santa Maria called Embajadores. Because it is located in an inlet there was minimal waves which is perfect for children as well as a roped off swimming area. There were clean bathrooms at a small cost. We were also able to rent a two man kayak for about $7 for a half hour. There was a restaurant located on the beach, but we took a picnic lunch so we did not try it.

My favourite beach in Lima Peru
Nice and clean beach, it is a little town with no hotels, it has houses and apartments for rent for days, weeks or months. It is safe and private, no pets allowed at the beach, they clean the sands everyday. There is a small beach at the side, Embajadores, with no waves where you can take the children. Police and private security make it the safest beach. Nights are beautiful walking by the malecon, don't forget to pack a nice outfit. There are also restaurants by the beach where you can order ceviche and beers during the day and a mini market (Los tres chanchitos) where you find everything you need.
Summer time is January to March, apartments are around 50 dollars per day, and houses are about 500 the week.
