Upon reading about the ruins of a 3000 BC temple, I was expecting something phenomenal. As written by a fellow reviewer, Google maps took us to a local cemetery which was a dead end. After much hassle when we reached the place it was a total disappointment! Entrance has just a barbed wire fence with an unnoticeable signboard. A small visitor centre with some information about the temple and its excavation, was a respite from the scorching sun.

Had visited in April 2017 – it is in an isolated area and there was no entrance fee – there is a visitors center area were photographs and write up about the place is displayed – the temple is just in ruins with a well kind area – not at all maintained – a historical place which dates back to 3000 BC – you can presume that some construction had happened using limestone blocks – absolutely it is on the complete open area – no trees around - Ensure to wear caps to escape from the heat of the sun.

There really isn't much left of this temple. There is a very small one room tourist building that has some information but unless you're in the area don't make the trip. It's kind of in the middle of a residential zone so it's tricky to find.

Was lovely to see a part of the Bahrain history tucked away among modern homes and civilization.
The information center there is small yet interesting.

The entrance is through a gap in a wire fence. There is a sign that designates the place, but I looked for a road...nope you enter a dust pit. The small "visitor's center" has a few photos and a toilet, but it is air-conditioned. You can walk through and in the ruins, but there is nothing to see except the remnant of the well, a few remaining low walls and a lot of stones. No effort has been put into making this potentially interesting piece of history appealing.

It is located in the Barbar area of Bahrain. Its history goes back to Dilmun civilization, when people used to worship idols on the island.
1. Don't follow the google maps as it takes you from the other side of the temple, where there is no entrance. Instead, just take the right, next to BBK bank on budaiya highway and go straight until you see the Barbar temple signage on your right.
2. The temple is not in its original shape but you can only find the base and the ruins. The archeological finds of the temple could be found at Bahrain National Museum.
3. Entrance is Free and it has a small visitor's centre. The site is open all day and closes at sunset.

Right now, this is a few holes in the ground with some shaped rocks there that you can identify as walls. Some signage, any signage would have been very nice. There was a nice, new visitor's center building that had nothing in it.

You won't find much in there to explore. But it is just one time visit place. This is the place where the head of a bull was dug out, which is also bahrain's national treasure probably

We visited here after seeing UNESCO's 2300 BC Bahrain Fort. While less than 5 km southwest, Google placed us at a local cemetery ~ 500 meters to the east. So after consulting with locals, we found the site and its lone police guard who chatted about the USA before giving us free reign to the small site and its informative visitor center (clean restrooms). We had seen the famous "copper bull" at the National Museum and this is where it was found, in one of the 3 temples built on top of each other over 1000 years of worshiping their water god "Enki".
This 2001 Tentative UNESCO site is simple but fascinating .

Bahrain was a very important trading centre since the 4th millennium BC and this place was its religious core of the Dilmun kingdom. The ruins are very basic with only a few interesting reconstructed parts, but if you are nearby it is worth fort its historical value
