It was our fault, driving here hoping to access the cave without a lengthy hike. Not sure how far it is, but our hiking days are over. The road is rough, parking is more than adequate, and it looks nice. If you are a hiker, it looks like fun.

Leaving you speechless! And hardly believe that it was used as military base till beginning of 1990-ties. Now only basements of fuel tanks left leaving you puzzled what are those constructions for. But other that that - perfectly resurrected place and worth to visit again and again.

Vast cave structure... I was looking forward to visiting and he reality was even more impressive. A very easy few minute walk from the car park... Well worth the trip out to see. Especially in combination with the waterfalls nearby... 30 minute drive.

After reading about this cave a few years ago I've always wanted to visit. Finally, we were in the right area this summer.
The cave is easy to find, just a couple of minutes of the main road past and well signposted. There is a small charge to enter but we were lucky enough that the man at the gate didn't ask for anything off us.
We expected a bit of a walk from the car park to the cave so we were very surprised that after a very easy 5 minute walk we were there. The cave is easily accessible even for people with mobility issues.
Some areas of the cave were cordoned off due to the breeding bats but this did not effect our enjoyment. The cave was very busy with a coach of visitors and a large school group there at the same time as us but the cave is large so it wasn't over crowded or noisy.
I would recommend visiting if you are in Bulgaria

The cave is relatively small, however it is impressive how the nature can create such a wonder. It takes around 20 minutes from Lovech. The entrance costs 3 leva but it is worth.

An interesting cave hosting a special treasure inside - bats colonies, protected. I was lucky enough to reach here before seeing Eyes of God so I was impressed by the grandeur of the place. If you wonder what is the meaning of the big circular posts on the cave's floor: during communism times they organized a weapons depot inside the cave and sheltered Bulgarian Army's tanks.

This is really a beautiful cave, although most of it is closed. Easy to explore even for kids. It would be good to have a guide there, otherwise I don't see a reason to collect a fee for visiting the cave.

Loved it here.Five min stroll from the car park. Amazing caves very peaceful apart from the eerie sounds of bats and many birds.unlike anything I have seen before.beautiful and stunning.

Amazing place!!
The location is not easy to find, as there's only a small sign at the right-hand side of the road to point to it, so it's easy to miss.
The cave is to the left of the sign and the access road is mostly packed dirt.
Park the car along this road (try to get near to the bridge).
There's a small fee to be paid. You then cross a brisdge and after a short walk you arrive at a large but simple looking cave entrance.
After entering the place you see a small deserted building to the right, which is where the Russing guards were.
Then, upon entering the cave, you discover how amazing it is. Huge size - and it has several large holes in the top from which light enters.
A small river flows to the left.
A small hill is to the right. On the hill there's a wall made of small stones, which covers the access to the deepest part of the cave.
To the left there's a fenced part of the cave, where bat colonies live.
Turns out that the Russians wanted to turn this place into some sort of storage, so they built large cement circles on the flattened floor of the cave (very large cirles - maybe 20 meters in diameter or more).

The cave has not stalagmites/stalagtites, spectacular galleries but it impresses by the immensity. A rivulet is flowing inside.The cave also has a cultural value: it was inhabited from the Neolithic to the present day. It was a refuge for many populations. Interesting archaeological discoveries were made here.

Is it worth visiting in the winter? Will the snow make this unmanageable?

Hi Miriam M. I went here in the spring, and it was a bit muddy in some places, but not so bad that it was miserable to visit. I haven't been in the winter. I imagine it might be a bit more difficult to go there with snow on the ground. Good luck!
