小串鉱山と言う硫黄鉱山の物資を運ぶためのケーブルの鉄塔や遺構が残っている峠です。ダートを降りて行くと鉱山まで行け、廃墟も見る事が出来ます。
遺構目当てに来る人やテレビアニメのオープニング曲のＰＶを撮った場所でもあるので、それ目当ての人、ラジコン飛行機を飛ばす人などが訪れるようです。
万座と長野（高山村）を結ぶ道からしかアクセスできず、道も細いので注意です。
しかし、長野市からほぼ直線距離で一番近く妻恋や志賀高原に抜けられる高山村なだけに、地理的にもタイムスリップした不思議な感じがしました。

破風岳に行く際に通る峠。
名前の通り、森林限界のため、辺りに木々は生えていない。山には点在する古びた鉄塔があり、写真家も多く訪れる場所。

群馬県の看板が有名なところ。
行ってみると結構頻繁にバイクや車で記念撮影している人がいます。
その先は、チェーンがあって行けませんが小串硫黄鉱山跡の廃墟があるようです。
この場所は駐車スペースのようなものがありますがその他トイレ等含め何もありません。
涼しいが風が非常に強いし日差しを遮るものは何もないのですぐに日焼けしちゃいます。標高が高いので8月下旬でも朝は気温10度でした。
飛行機のグライダーや無線で遊んだり、破風岳へトレッキングに行ったりする人も多いようです。

峠ということでしたが、行って見ると尾根の合間にひらけた駐車場があり、とても開放感がある場所でした！万座道路からT字路を入った突き当たりが毛無峠ですが、対向車線のない細い道です。ガードレールも落石でボコボコ。ただ峠の駐車場が広かったり、バイクの方が多いので通行量はけっこうあるとようです。登山、オフロードバイク、ラジコン飛行機を楽しんでいるかたが多かったです。
