Wonderful!!! this is the most imaginative and interesting place to visit: a lovely garden, lots to do for all ages, a tranquil or exciting place depending on your mood. Such a clever idea to make a maze of iron, with rural artefacts...the puzzle games are great and the Alice-in-Wonderland garden is magical/ A GREAT afternoon

We were a family group of 16 adults and children.
We were visiting Young and were looking for some activity that the whole family would enjoy.
The Rustic Maze does just that! It is more than just a maze. It is a discovery tour along the way, where you have to gather information on various items, making it more of an adventure. We all thoroughly loved it!
There are also other outside activities as well, such an inground trampoline and various cleverly designed gardens, including a meditation garden and things like a life-size chess game.
We also enjoyed the delicious homemade delicacies such as Devonshire teas, divine slices and cake.
Highly recommend this maze, if you are seeking some fun. A hidden gem!

I was hesitant when my friend suggested a 60km drive to a country garden and maze but as it was her birthday and she really wanted to go, I relented and made the trip. I am so glad that she persuaded me into going as the Rustic Maze & Country Garden is a hidden gem.
We arrived at the still-working property that was originally settled in the 1850’s and entered through the revived shearers’ quarters café. Here we were greeted by the lovely staff who informed us about the area and provided us with a map and riddle cards. As we made our way through the "Rustic Maze" (made out of corrugated iron sheets) to the viewing platform in the middle, we solved the clues to the riddles and saw the fascinating historical objects. After we made our way out again, we explored the massive country garden with so many things to see and do - hopscotch, an in-ground trampoline, a giant outdoor chess set and many colourful ground-based puzzles.
Our entire group - ranging in age from fourteen months through to late twenties - had such a fun time. We can’t wait to visit again when the Labyrinth and ‘Deck of Cards’ are complete (currently under development).

Had a delightful time at the Rustic Maze last Saturday. The food was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed the walk through the beautifully laid out gardens. Some very quirky garden art and ornaments, riddles to challenge us and a maze to enjoy. The maze itself is made out of iron and it was fun getting to the centre, and viewing the gardens from the platform, finding clues to our individual puzzles on the way and then trying to find our way out again - very comfortable walking.

The maze was so much fun. There were 5 adults, no kids, and we had a blast acting like little kids. Finding the puzzle solving clues along the way brought lots of laughter as we doubled back many times trying to get to other sections of the maze. Finally solved our puzzles. Wandering around the gardens was lovely and we found many plants not seen before. A thoroughly enjoyable time. I wish I lived closer to bring the grandkids. Well done.

I enjoyed the tranquility of the beautiful gardens, the experience of conquering the Maze and solving the many puzzles arranged around the area, and as it is a work in progress I will return to see any new developments as they happen. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a trip to the country.

Loved the afternoon here! Kids young and old can explore the maze, riddles and puzzles! Scattered throughout are quirky pieces of memorabilia from times gone by! Authentic Aussie garden filled with drought tolerant plants to meander through! Green lawns and beautiful pink roses surrounding the historic house!
Yes it is 10 km more on a dirt road after Monteagle but this is Australia!
Delicious and quaint cafe, simple menu but best of all is their Gluten free options that are homemade!!!!!!!! Give them a call for larger groups as they may need extra supplies!
