Padula is a hidden gem. La Certosa has amazing rooms filled with history. The whole place is magic. From the gardens you have the view of the city, little but charming. I want to go back and explore the monument further more.

A spacious monastery hidden away from the noise. Beautifully decorated later baroque (almost rococo-like?) interiors that somehow appear "lighter" than their contemporaries in other buildings. You can walk through various rooms of the former monastery, including the cavernous kitchen.

Four stars just because some of the areas, like the courtyard of spezeria, are not at their best and look abandoned. Moreover, only two out of a dozen of monks' cells were open for visit. However, just €4 of a ticket for such a monument...More

Amazing site that so few people who do not live near know about. The wood work and the inlaid marble on the altars are equal to any in Italy. A site not to miss

Absolutely great and valuable. Go there and take a guided tour! It has been a great (and very large) surprise!

The sheer size of this monastery and the impressive chapels make this a worthwhile stop over. Overall its a bit understated and the entrance is being redone (isn't everywhere in Italy). Definitely worth a visit.
