The Mahamuni Buddha is a 13 foot gold encrusted statue and major pilgrimage site. The statue originally came from the Arakan state of Myanmar. The history of how the statue arrived close to Mandalay is fascinating. Definitely worth seeing.

This review should be kyauktaw which is 30 mins away (drive) from mrauk u. Most of the people know the maharmyatmuni image from mandalay but not much for the one in kyauktaw. It is one of the most powerful Buddhism images in Myanmar
