Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Taiwan's East Coast is mountainous and the land falls abruptly into the sea. Just getting from one place to another was challenging until in a masterwork of engineering for which Taiwan is well-known, the Su-hua Highway was carved into the face of the cliff. The trip is spectacular, just make sure that you have a reliable driver.

Great views of the cliff but can only see it from a distance. You are restricted to the road with no path going down the cliffs. However, the views justify a stop. Parking is limited and you may have to wait for a spot. As most people are not staying for long, you have a fair chance to park with some patience.

The Suhua Highway runs 118 km (74 miles) from Suao to Hualien. It is one of the world's most spectacular highways. Officially, the road is Provincial Highway Number 9. The Qingshui Cliff is a marvellous sight, which is also a little frightening. The Highway is carved into the side of the cliff, high above the churning Pacific Ocean. It's a trip you will never forget. Get an experienced driver.

We drove out to the cliffs based on very positive reviews, but we came away a little disappointed. Although the views from the end of the route to the coast are okay, we have seen better elsewhere and from having high expectations, we came away a little underwhelmed. It gets very busy with tour buses but the road to the cliffs is very wide and it never felt crowded. There is a car park but this is not particularly large. However visits to the attraction do not take long. We only had to wait a short time for a spot to appear. There are also toilets. Less than a 10 minute walk to the cliffs.

For whatever reason, we did not come here during my last September trip. Anyway, this is a must see spot to really the beauty of SuHua Highway. Easy to park and also equipped with restroom. Great spot to fully explore the beauty of East coast ocean views. Additionally, you can also see the trains in and out of the tunnel if you are lucky.

One of the 8 wonders of Taiwan. You must come and see for yourself. Simply breathtaking. This is the only place you can see Pacific Ocean’s different tones of blue.

You would just stop and enjoy the Pacific Ocean. So majestic. So happy yet in an angry way. So rich in color. It is an amazing landscape here in QingShui. It is on the way to Taroko and you must stop for a bit. Don’t rush nature. Breathe it all in.

This is probably the most beautiful sight that I can remember from my 10 days in Taiwan. The country has an above average transportation infrastructure, above average nice people, above average safety/security, above average restaurants & lodging, but BY FAR the highlight of my trip was the Ching-Shui Cliff (and that includes my illegally sneaking onto the roof top of their 101Taipei building to take a selfie).... As I said, this location alone is worth the trip to Taiwan. It's impossible NOT to take a Pulitzer Prize winning photo here.

Once can reach the viewing platform without the need to hire a taxi if he is willing to spend 20 minutes walking from Chongde train station. I based in Hualien and I took an early morning train to Chonge, which is a small station next to the sea. Before leaving the station, find out when is the next train schedule heading back to Hualien so you could plan your time to spend.

As you exit the train station, turn left and walk towards the cliff. Its an uphill walk and shaded in some areas. The walk is a very scenic one as there is cliffs on your left and the sea on your right, and there is no stray dogs.

You will pass through a tunnel, which is dusty so a mask is necessary. As you exit the tunnel, the viewing platform is just metres away.

"WOW!!!" That is our first expression when reached here! It is considered to be a very scenic area and is the highest coastal cliff in Taiwan.

Pls refer to our photos and you will feel amazed too!
