Amazing trip!!!

I’ve been looking forward to visiting East Rift Valley for a long time. In this summer, I joined a local tour group to visit this astonishing attraction. The reason why I choose tour group is that the research which I’ve done before indicated that driving is the best way to arrive at East Rift Valley. Without international driving license, my only choice was to join a tour group. Our trip started with the famous seasonal carnival, Taiwan International balloon festival! Thanks to the weather, I got a rare chance to ride on the hot balloon, and observed East Rift Valley from a different perspective. Feeling the breeze gently blow on my cheek, this fascinating memory indeed expanded my horizon. After lunch, we went to Batongguan Historic Trail. The whole length of Batongguan Historic Trail was about 14.5 kilometer, which is difficult to finishe in an afternoon. Therefore, tour group lead us to Walami Trail, the east part of Batongguan Historic Trail, to wander around this place relaxingly. Our tour guide introduced us the history of Batongguan historic trail and Walami Trail, which allowed me to know this destination more deeply. The Taiwanese night markets have already earned the world-wide reputation. Hence, the tour group gave us a long time to carefully walk around the night market and finished our dinner at night market. As soon as I arrived at the night market, I was attracted by the food and atmosphere in the night market. The food was beyond description, and people here were enthusiastic. If gotten a chance, I would never be doubt to visit night market again! The second day began with experiencing the process of making ice jelly. I’ve tasted the ice jelly in the night market. Therefore, I was excited to see what it was like to actually make ice jelly. The experience was unique because the process was quite complicated in my mind and the tactile impression was weird but cool. The last destination was to ride a bike on the country road in East Rift Valley. Riding bike with all the memory, breathing the fresh air, and the wind blowing through my face. The trip had come to an end. This must be a best trip that I would never forget in rest of my life.

I rented a scooter and spent about 5 days scootering down and through the Eastern Rift Valley. Since I did this in February, their winter, it was a little chilly on some days. When the sun was out and it wasn't rainy, it was spectacular. In Hualien you can rent scooters. The owner at The Sleeping Boot Hostel will get you connected with some people who'll rent you scooters. I recommend doing this. I did it as a solo female and it was one of the best experiences I've had. The views are stunning, with mountains & jungle on one side & the ocean on the other. This is the cheapest, best, and most flexible way to see the views.

We did a cycling trip from Hualien to Taitung where we spend the first 1,5 day biking through the East Rift Valley. We took the small provincial road from Hualien to Ruisui which was amazing. The hills were a bit tough but the additional scenery and absence of cars made it more then worth it. From Ruisui we hiked through the mountains to end up on the east coast and bike along there to Taitung. For us it was one of the most amazing trips ever and we would definitely recommend this! If we were to do it again we would just take 4 days instead of 3 as that would leave a little more time for sightseeing.

The East Rift valley is located between the first range of mountains next to the coast and the next (higher) range of mountains further in the center of the island. There are multiple stops along the way as you drive on the highway. Antong Springs was one of our favorites, we didn't like loshan area.
