The gold museum and accompanying mine tunnel is interesting and does give some insight into gold mining in 20th century Taiwan, but it is lacking in artifacts and detail. Worth a visit if you are in the area for the views down the valley to...More

There is also a Gold Museum a few Kms away from the Jiufen old street. While it does not have much to show, but it is nice to see the home of the miners, the cafeteria, etc. It has been preserved nicely like a small...More

The place is part of the mining place and is full of history. It boasts of their well-maintained manicured gardens and museum. The staff are so accommodating (even if it was so hard for them to speak in English). I recommend that you bring a...More

This was our very first stop arriving at Taiwan. The cold, the rain and the mist made this quite an interesting stop. We did enjoy the scenic view of the park within the museum but as for the museum itself, as we didn't really look...More

We went to see the Golden Waterfalls in Yilan. As recommended by my guide, we can also visit this museum uphill. We paid 80NTD each to enter the main museum and purposely just to touch the gold bullion on the top floor. We did and...More

Museum detailing the process of the gold mining during the time of the Japanese occupation of Taiwan. There is a cut away section of a mine (miniature), showcasing the workers deep in the mines. You can touch a solid block of gold for prosperity and...More

With its air of historical heritage, Shuijinjiu
(ShueiNanDong, Jingguashi, Jiufen) used to be
prosperous and glamorous due to mining. Although its
magnificent semblance no longer exists, the peaceful
and beautiful atmosphere has persisted. With a wave to
the age of the gold rush, one can still see a glimpse
of its glorious past through the Golden Waterfall.
