Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is a nice landmark to stop and snap a few pictures. Nothing spectacular so a quick stop to stretch your feet and grab a bite.

Ya its cool, but be aware that they moved the marker almost 4km SW from the original accurate location right beside the main train station in Ruisui. when they expanded in 1983, the Tropic of Cancer was relocated and given a more tourist friendly home
It it definitely a spectacle.
Its not the equator or international date line (or prime meridian) but you kinda gotta stop and check it out
mostly you need to go so you can say I was there!
oh hey, so this isnt actually the real/official TofC
try asking your tour guide about it ~ suddenly his English aint so good. First he laughs and jokes that it is not true and changes the subject. Ask again and he simply avoids the question- Hey they sell fresh fruit right over there
Start talking to the others in your group about it and watch him become visibly annoyed
Such a minor detail, they should just include the history of where it was and why they chose to relocate this marker
seriously it was super funny trying to get anyone to acknowledge the real story

One of three Tropic of Cancer markers in Taiwan, this one being near Hualien. Nothing memorable, but quick stop is sufficient. Little bit touristy (in my opinion).

Beautiful place, many private associations and a great desire to read more about The Tropic and other tropics, astronomy phenomena etc

This Tropic of Cancer is worth a stopover visit. Spend about 30 minutes here to enjoy the view of Pacific Ocean right across the road and have some beautiful photos taken.

Its interesting knowing that you're standing on the Tropic of Cancer but that's about it. The scenery approaching the Tropic of Cancer is more interesting than the marker itself, unless you are very much into landmarks. There are bus loads of tourists who crowd the place and the sales pitches blaring from the loud speakers spoil the ambiance. The best time to be there is before 9am so that you can take photos without being photo bombed and to spare yourself from the deafening speaker announcements that repeat themselves ad nauseum.

You will love this!
The pictured marker is approximately 72km South of Hualien on Hwy 11. It is in a small park area at the side of the highway and it would be hard to miss. There is parking and clean, public toilets. There are some food stalls which appeared to mostly have fruit when I was there.
I stopped there twice - I love geographic markers. One time a big bus stopped but didn't stay long and I mostly had the marker to myself.

While travelling on the eastern coast road, it is impossible to miss this marker. Running east to west, there is an opening in the column which you can stand in to have your photo taken.

About 30 minutes north of Hualien on beautiful Hwy 11 is one of Tropic of Cancer roadside marker, facing the scenic Pacific Ocean - no 7-11's or FamilyMart here, just 2 or 3 refreshment stands selling fruits, cold beverages & inexpensive gift items, and a small stage with free entertainment by aboriginal natives to this area (there are a # of "tribes" throughout" TW.
One can pull over, stop in the parking lot & take a quick restroom break and take a few pictures - and, that's about it, aside from one's own "picnic" lunch. Washrooms are okay but lines can be long and unorganized when busloads of PRC Chinese tourists arrive & they don't follow the line order & cut in front, get rowdy & noisey, etc.
This is nice stretch of roadway that rise & dip hugging the coast with the Pacific Ocean, largely unspoiled with many farmlands & country homes - if doing one's own tour, be sure to check & refill one's gas tank when it's less than 1/2 tank.
There are a # of benches & picnic table, so if one is prepared with a picnic set with chilled beverages, snacks & sandwiches, and wanted to enjoy the sounds & sights of the ocean, this is a good location - as long as you are shaded during warm weather months, wear a hat or sun protection, and try to stay cool.
