    Really cool and organized market
The night market is set up where you walk all the way down and can look at vendors along the way. They have games, food, and even dining areas where you can eat as well. The food is amazing and there was no specific vendor that took too long to wait for. If it’s raining make sure to bring an umbrella as there are no covers for rain.

Nice market to spend an hour or two
We visited the night market after visiting the Taroko Gorge in the morning. Can easily spend an hour or two there, looking at the stores. Not much vegetarian food choices, maybe a couple of stalls, other than desserts. But we just enjoyed walking around as we had a late snack and were not hungry really. There were games, some souvenir shops, live music, along with the food stalls. Even though we went on a Sunday evening, it was surprisingly not very crowded at all - no idea why. Nice way to spend the night, if you have extra time in Hualian.

Came Here for Dinner Every Night, So Much to Try
The Dongdamen Night Market in Hualien is a must if in Hualien. Compared to other night markets I've been to in Taiwan, this one is cleaner, organized, and has a lot of great food to try. The market is pretty big, with a great variety of food. I tried everything from grilled bacon to fried dough and everything was delicious. For the most part, the food was cheap. Some stalls had long lines while others didn't. I recommend doing an initial walkthrough then go back and try what you want.

Lots of food stalls but quality varies.
Big market with lots of food stalls. I didn't find it particularly interesting. Food standards vary from good to mediocre to not worth trying. We like the grilled corn, sausage & potato balls. The oyster omelette, xiaolongbao, stinky toufu & mien sien & yakitori are all not worth the calories. Look out for the queues, the food is sure to be good.

Quite a big market but there were many stalls that had games and the food as well kind of repeated through many stalls. Overall, it was a nice experience.

Came here for dinner with another couple from our cycle group. We ordered at a couple of stores and had some very tasty grilled food. Market is clean and well organised.

This night market is grand and new. Opened in 2015 and formed from 4 block. Rather clean toilets and garbage bin area. If you’re not satisfied by other crowded and filthy night markets, you may like here. There’s a big stage at the central area. A young male artist was playing solo. I don’t know it was his original or copy but at least it was not indigenous. There is a block to feature indigenous foods. Fun for seeing.
We had a wanton soup and beef rice at a local stand which was completely empty. Wanton soup was good, rice wasn’t good.

There are a lot of people at dongdamen night market. There are four street. Every street have different specific. My favorite is Futing street. Because there are many delicious food and interesting games.

Another street is worthy to be recommended. Its name is Aboriginal Street. You can enjoy many kinds of traditional cuisines overthere and know more knowledge about Taiwan aborigines. Every day, aboriginal grandma sing joyful songs to make everyone happy. It is really special.

But there are some points I think government should improve them. First, this night market is just like a maze. It's hard to find a correct direction. Second, some venders are empty, I think it should be filled, or people will feel bad.

Hualien is the jumping off point for one of Taiwan's most famous attractions, Taroko Gorge. At night, many visitors explore the Dongdamen night market. Apart from souvenirs, the night market has some enticing snacks, and also old-fashioned carnival games, It's easy to spend a couple of hours wandering around. And it's fun!

This market is big but don’t expect it to be a night market of typical Taiwanese style. This place is full of gaming and food, that’s it. To stroll for a few minutes but not more.
