About
For adventurous eaters, this is the premiere spot to buy dried delicacies like longyan fruits, scallops, mushrooms and abalone. Before Chinese New Year is when this street is at its busiest, when Taiwanese flock to the market to stock up for Lunar New Year's feasts.

Had visited the street many times during the morning, noon and evening but in a rush.
The best time to visit is week-end as certain parts are closed for vehicles. Did not expect the street is quite long. Even though it is selling dried foods, but there stores or shops sell others as well.

I wanted to visit Yong Le Market for the fabrics based on many reviews i read online. And I was not disappointed! The walking distance from Zhongshan station can be pretty daunting, so remember to print a google map and follow the directions carefully. The building is rather nondescript, so keep your eyes peeled. Its a short white (or it used to be white) building and you can ask the locals for directions if you are uncertain. Second floor is heavenly with all the many shops catering to crafters. I bought alot of cotton-linen fabrics which are made in Taiwan, and the quality was excellent. I did not buy too many of the Japanese fabrics because I'm in Taiwan and would prefer to buy something local! : ) You won't be disappointed if you are looking for something special to make a handmade bag!

Hard to access except by taxi. Nearest MRT 20 minutes walk away. Came from XiMenDin by taxi (about NT120). Visited the second storey that sold cloth. About. 4-5 shops selling limited silk but for patchwork lovers , you will love this place. Opposite the building , there is a shop selling beads , love it. Taxis are easily available and cost NT240 to Taipei 101.

Have not been here in a while. I was pleasantly Surprised to see that they are upgrading the place-Many Many Shophouses changed the front facade of their shops .
I went in the day time and instead of taking the MRT to Shuanglien and then them 518 bus on this hot day, I walked the length of Taipei City Mall in AC comfort and exited at Y27 at the Corner of Ta Cheng Street. (Taipei Textile area) From the Exit-Di Hua Street was only 400 Mt. Great for people who enjoy walking.

Even though its called a tourist market by the street signs, we only found food for sale and nothing else. Lots of locals and very few tourist. If your looking for a cheap bite and know what you want it's a great place but we didn't know what we were eating and what we saw didn't look clean so we moved on.

Great place to purchase quality dried food, all kinds of Taiwanese noodles, traditional drinks, health food and snacks. The best thing about this place is how vendors are genuinely friendly and they are always offering you samples without pressuring you to buy them. You can spend hours here browsing and trying out food and drinks.

This area was packed with people when we visited a week before Chinese New Year. People were sandwiching each other and it was difficult to just walk.

Don't forget to check out the Yongle Market that is located close to the entrance of Dihua Street. I personally enjoy going to markets just to get a glimpse of what the locals eat. You can buy fresh fruits that are local to Taiwan at reasonable prices. There is also a little food stall on the ground floor serving fresh local seafood - try their jumbo prawn salad and free miso coup cooked with fish bones.

I loved this street when I first visited last December. I returned in May and it was the first place I visited. The street is ever changing and is quite different depending on which end you start. One end has lots of old shop houses that have been renovated into showcases for designer goods and ceramics with a tea house at the back. At the other end of the street the shops are more likely run as family businesses as they have been for generations. Do try some of the wonderful dried fruits on sale. Don't be afraid to ask "What is this?" to unfamiliar looking items. Some shops will let you see upstairs where the families used to live. Make sure you visit the lantern shop where they will make to order if you don't find ones you like. There are herbal medicine shops, the Yongle Fabric Market and the City God Taoist temple in the middle of the street. Dihua is the oldest still-surviving neighborhood in Taipei so don't miss it. The mix of old and new is fascinating.

We were told that Dihua street is also famously known as Chinese New Year street because weeks before CNY, it becomes busy and full of life. Shops eould be selling CNY goodies such as mushrooms and scallops. The whole street is very exciting, plenty of food stalls too. There is a temple where it is famous for matchmaking!!! A great street to visit and spend some time. Notice the architecture of the shops.

An old street with Fujian architectures style building and popular known as Dadaocheng by locals. The shops here sell dried produces from the sea, medical herbs, tea, nuts & seed, fabric, decorative and praying materials (like most China Town shops). As you strolls along the shops corridors, a lot of titbits sample are hand out for testing. At the time of writing it is a quiet place and is said to be lively during the few weeks before the Chinese New Year festive season where all the older locals will come here to replenish the festivities groceries and the young will just come to have the feel of the atmosphere of festive season of spring

I never realised Taipei has so many Baroque style buildings until I visited Dihua Street. The area is full of old style trading companies and seafood stores. It gives you a rare experience of walking into a period in the past.
