Be prepared for lots of walking. Beautiful park worth exploring and do check out Xiao You Keng, a post-volcanic geological park for fumaroles (mountain side sulphur gas exhaust).

Yangmingshan National Park is famous for its cherry blossoms, which flower in spring. The blooms are transient, as is life. Crowds of people flock to see the blooms, particularly on the weekend. Go during the week if you can.

I think the peak of the bloom was earlier in the year (mid March), and I'm not sure how long the season extends.
