Top ways to experience Anping Tree House and nearby attractions
The area
Neighbourhood: Anping District/ Annan District
Anping District is the area first developed in Taiwan. It is also the key to Taiwan’s involvement in the international community. The two famous historic monuments, Anping Fort (a.k.a. Fort Zeelandia) and Eternal Golden Castle leave behind them the traces of international trade made by various countries. Another historic monument that stands the test of time is Tree House, in which beautiful stories were created along with the running water in the canal in the course of history.
The National Museum of Taiwan History in the form of green building stands in Annan District. Next to the coastal Cihcao Dajhong Temple is the amazingly gorgeous green tunnel formed by mangroves. Moving slowly in the river course on a pipe raft, you will be greeted by hermit crabs and mudskippers. The sunlight glitters in the woods. This will be like a tranquil journey in the no-man Amazon. What comes next is Luermen River estuary. People can enjoy the beautiful sunset in the Natural Defence of the Capital and also visit the one and only temple which has two barefooted door gods of foreign descent, guarding General Jheng Chengkong, making the trip to Tainan full of stories and mysteries.

- T-SGlobetrottersPreston, United Kingdom3,806 contributionsNot a great deal to seeThe main attraction is the old Tait & Co Merchant house and its adjacent warehouse which now has multiple Banyan tress growing through it. We found the museum to be really disjointed with the timeline of exhibits not following a defined path. The warehouse had multiple platforms and raised walks from which you can view the encroached trees on the fabric of the old building. This is quite well done but views are quite limited. We had expected a little more from this attraction. Not sure if it worth the effort of making the trip from Central Tainain for this alone.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 December 2023

The house museum dedicated to his works is interested, but unless you happen to be Taiwanese and know about calligraphy, you'd probably be more interested in the famed tree house. This is a part of the grounds where the tree have overgrown into the building structures, providing photogenic opportunities.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 28 April 2024
- JonasCNSingapore, Singapore4,386 contributionsAn Instagrammable beautiful site unfortunately beset by mosquitosAnping Tree House is an interesting site. A former warehouse occupied by trees. Opening hours are 8.30am to 5.30pm and entry is NTD $70. The site is beautiful and well maintained. It is a bit slippery during summer rain so you have to watch your step. If you are lucky, there may also be a free guide presenting the site in Chinese to tourists. It is worth listening to the story, though the English descriptors boards share the same story too. There is a bridge you can go up to view the city landscape that is nice. The is also a Tait and Co old building that contains old artefacts and most important is air conditioned. I also personally like the coffee house that is cosy and allows one to relax with a nice hot drink. The only negative experience for the visit is the mosquitos are the open area that are aggressive in attacking, especially in summer. Hence it is important to either bring insect repellent or wear long pants.Visited June 2024Travelled soloWritten 21 September 2024

Anping Treehouse (安平樹屋)
It is located in Anping District of Tainan City, a little bit far away from city Tainan city center. The Anping Tree House was once known as the “Haunted House” for many years until it was officially opened to public in 2004 as a project of the National Anping Harbor Historic Park. Can see huge Sprawling roots and branches of banyan trees. Worth to visit.

After strolling around Anping Old Street, I went to Anping Tree House, and as I went deeper through the tiled roof gate, I found a building covered with banyan trees, in short, a warehouse of the British Trading Company "Jiki Yoko", which was covered with banyan trees in the time and thought. The Anping district is far from large, with its concentrated history and the banyan trees that cover it. Human history and the natural trees that cover it. I think we have an interesting relationship.

The building here was originally a warehouse of Deji Maternity Co., and its current size was added during the Japanese colonial period. After the war, it was converted into a Taiwan Salt Warehouse. It was abandoned for half a century and allowed to be parasitized by banyan trees, thus forming a unique symbiosis between trees and houses. There are also some introductions related to the surrounding environment displayed inside. There is also a sky bridge trail viewing platform next to the tree house, where you can overlook the mangroves beside the Yanshui River.

This house was one of the most bizarre I've ever seen. The tree has completely incorporated it. It has a ticket of 70$ (only in Tainan we found the paid sites). From the center of Tainan we arrived here easily with Youbike's pedal-assisted bikes (you need to register on the app)

Anping Old Fort is a Japanese colonial period building on the site of Fort Zeelandia, the oldest in Taiwan, built during the Dutch colonial period in the 17th century.
Anping Tree House is a former warehouse that has been completely covered with banyan trees over the years, creating a world reminiscent of Laputa: Castle in the Sky. The fantastical space makes you forget time.
PS: Perhaps due to tensions with China Coast Guard vessels invading the territorial waters near Kinmen Island, which is under Taiwan's effective control, several F-CK-1s (Taiwan-developed domestic multi-role fighter jets) scrambled from the Taiwan Air Force's Taiwan Base with a tremendous roar.

The tree house is part of the grounds that include the former Tait and co. Merchant House, a building dedicated to a famous calligrapher and a little cafe for tourists. The tree house is very pretty and fun to explore especially for kids with plenty of places to get a fun picture of the overgrown foliage. If you’re 6 foot or over just watch your head there are a lot of doorways with low head clearance. If you like nature this is a great spot.

Ta Prohm in Tainan is quietly located 10 minutes walk north of Anping Ancient Town. It looks like a Dutch merchant's warehouse has been incorporated into the banyan tree, but it is much smaller in scale than Ta Prohm in Cambodia. Is it really worth charging an admission fee for this?

The old warehouses overgrown with banyan tree roots are simply impressive. Nature has reclaimed its kingdom here. It is rightly the highlight of Anping.
On the same site is the "Former Tait & Co. Merchant House", which presents the history of Tainan. Worth seeing.

Located in the first developed area in Tainan and Taiwan. The tree house is quite amazing and covered by huge banyan tree. It is worth for you to take a walk and enjoy the power of nature!

The beach is near ,there is little to do there but you can enjoy sunset there. Another place to see is sio salt house, there you will be amazed to see types of salt. After that near to Anping is a street market also.
Spending complete day can be difficult but if you are travelling with friend or family. Some good time can be spent.
