For sure there is no shortage of castles in Bavaria, and also many that require serious investment to keep going or maintain. Visiting this castle you're filled with the potential of what it could be - it's visible from miles away, and it dominates the town and landscape. Once inside though, it's clear the best years are long past (rather... More

Stayed here twice. Great family atmosphere, ambiance and food. The family that ran it leased it from the Bavarian Government. However, due to the need for extensive refurbishment and its subsequent costs, the Bavarian Government, the local brewery and the family did not reach financial agreement and, after 25 years, the hotel has closed.

This isn't Neuschwanstein (neither are the lines). Burg Veldenstein offers an explorable outer castle that the kids can run around and enjoy, and fantastic views for the adults. Casual restaurant offers typical German fare, one of the better choices in limited Neuhaus. Sit and enjoy the fantastic local beers. Walk around and see the castle from it's north side as... More

Took my family to the restuarant, with was decorated with suits of armor and the parking is inside the castle walls.Great steak and vegatables and this town has a local beer tht carries the name of this castle. Castle towers above the village and really looks like something out of the movies.
