We did the Jewel of Lavaux wine tour with Jean (John? Yann?) and had the best time! We enjoyed learning about the history of the Lavaux region as well as his anecdotes one could only have from being a long time resident of the area. We sampled more than enough wine and the Vinorama venue itself was wonderful to select a few wines to bring home.

It's conveniently located. We got off at chexbres villege, walked to a nearby restaurant and drank white wine. We arrived at vinorama while walking through the vineyards of Lavaux. It took about 30 minutes. It's a great place to relax and drink wine on a weekday. We chose our favorite wine and drank it in the facility. We asked the staff for a recommendation and bought a Chasselas white wine. On the way back, we took the Rivas train, which runs once an hour, to Vevey. It's a good idea to check out the SBB.

Vinorama - sounds good after a hike through the vineyards of Lavaux.
The terrace is right on the busy main road, without a good view of the lake.
I sit down and wait, and am initially overlooked.
Then a waiter comes and tells me that the table is reserved... but I can sit inside. If the weather is nice.
All I needed was a chair and a glass of wine.

If you only have one day to explore Lavaux and pressed for time to do a wine tasting- come here. They have extensive lists of excellent Swiss wines. We had a great wine tasting experience! Love the Chasselas white wines.

We had a great day. The cellars are beautiful and the views along the way are spectacular. Besides the red wine, we were also able to taste white wine. We had enough food for the day and of course plenty of wine. The hostess, I don't remember the name, but she was very competent and had a great sense of humor. We had the Impression that the day was long enough for us. We thought it would be perfect to visit some wineries and spend more time. We had a great day and would do it again.

Designated World Heritage Site, the Lavaux Vinorama should be very much part of the UNESCO list. This is a unique place to discover the enormous variety of wines from the region's vineyards. Instead of stressing yourself (and your passengers) on the overcrowded highway, take the scenic route along the lake and stop at this roadside venue for a relaxing wine tasting experience. Make sure to ask the friendly (and knowledgeable) staff for advice so you have the opportunity to discover the unknown. There are over 200 different wines to chose from, or you can sample a glass from one of the "Selection of the Week" bottles.

I have been living in Switzerland for over 18 months now and the one thing missing in the service industry here is the interaction element. Alex and Louis at the Lauvaux Vinorama were such a pleasant exception to the norm that I can't wait to head back to the place. Me and my friend had a lovely evening of wine-tasting and conversations, where we were introduced to each wine that we tasted in the Expert package. We were served upon by both, Alex and Louis. Both ended up joining us for more drinks and smokes after their shift ended and it ended up becoming a delightful evening of great conversations and new friendships. We spent about 6.5 hours at the place and were sorry to leave. The wines are definitely worth the trip and being friendly really works at the place, as we found out. A must-stop during one's time in Vaud.

Nice way to spend an hour and a half/two hours. We did the Chasselas tasting - tasted three white wines and saw a short documentary film. The waiter was very friendly and the wine and nibbles were tasty. We also got 20% off with our Lausanne transport card.

While visiting a local friend we were told we would visit Lavaux Vinorama. It is a fabulous winery beautifully situated overlooking Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) and adjacent to a magnificent waterfall. Upon entry, you are greeted with a cozy room stacked traditionally with a number of wonderful local wines. We had heard that the wine selection was outstanding (which it was) and we were posed for a wonderful wine tasting experience.
Indeed all was perfect until we were unlucky enough to encounter - Sandrine.
Seems Sandrine (not to be confused with Sandra) took an immediate dislike to something about our party (some of us were foreigners? Bad day? Who knows.) As always, we were polite even in the face of those who are not, and unfortunately, Ms Sandrine was on a roll.
Some of the highlights of our unfortunate time with her? Our friend had called ahead and was confirmed that a short film about the wine making process would be shown in English, it was not a problem. Well, for Sandrine, everything involving us was a problem. She refused to show the film at any time during our visit, blamed her co-worker for over booking, was unnecessarily aggressive with our friend which made us all uncomfortable, and we had to sit and wait for 15 minutes before another waiter (who was very kind) came over and explained the wine selection. It was obvious that they too were embarrassed, but not surprised, by the rudeness of their co-worker. Our friend, who had visited many times before with guests was mortified and kept apologizing for the rude behavior. Indeed, the Swiss are very gracious people and our treatment here was an aberration.
We decided against leaving and chose a selection of wines which came with tasty bread. All in all, it is a beautiful place, with excellent wine, and very nice selection, all of which was sadly diminished by a surley employee.
We can't highly recommend a place where a staffer feels emboldened to act so rudely to guests during a once in a lifetime experience. So, our advice? Go for the wine. Avoid Sandrine.

We booked the Lavaux Vinorama wine tour on 27 Nov at 11am (another timing at 3pm) which combines wine tasting with a short movie with a walk up the vineyard terraces. We took train from Montreux to Rivaz (15 mins) and walk for 10 minutes to Lavaux Vinorama. We started with wine tasting of 3 different white wines (which is the specialty in Lavaux) with some bread and cheese/sesame sticks. Very nice white wines. Then followed with a short interesting movie about wine making (the movie is an award winning).
Then we started the vineyard tours. We went up the terraces of the UNESCO World Heritage site which has amazing views to the lake and surrounding mountain. As there are only us (family of 4), it's kind of a private tour. Our tour guide, Jaap, is excellent and has great knowledge about the region. He told us about the history of Lavaux and how the wine makers do their work and a lot of other interesting details. Even our 16 and 13 years old find the story interesting and listen to his explanation. The walk up was quite steep but all were stairs. The views totally worth the effort to walk up!
We then reach the Rivas town and houses which are predominantly wine makers and Jaap continue to tell us stories. We went to one of the wine maker house who also become the place for them to make wine. We had another wine tasting there, 1 red and 1 white. Then Jaap explained to use the process to make the wines. Very good education for us and give us a better appreciation of wine making.
We then went back to Vinorama and bought a few bottle of wines. The price is very reasonable and so much worth it as we understand that Lavaux wines are not exported hence they are not made in mass production. The price for the wine tour (CHF 49 per person, children under 16 free) is also very reasonable for the experience and wine tasting that we had. Very much recommended!

I would like to ask if it is possible to walk inside the vineyard without buying a tour pakage? Thank you so much.

Would it be possible to walk here from the Vevey train station? I see that it’s about 5.4km. We’re all in good shape and are up for a long walk but it’s hard to tell from Google Maps if the route is walking friendly.

Hello,
We have been there by car and passed beside the train station. I am not sure, but I remember that most of the road has a sidewalk, some parts has bicycle routes (maybe merged with sidewalk).
In all cases, the route is very beautiful, from one side you see the beautiful lake, and from the other side the vineyards.
Enjoy:)
