- vicnotMelbourne, Australia359 contributionsOtway Fly - good fun.The zipline tour was a lot of fun, and felt very safe. The only thing I was annoyed about was that the staff suggested that the walk first would be rushing a bit, but afterwards we couldn't do it as our 'fly' was too late. They then suggested we could come back the next day but they were closed. We could easily have done the walk first instead of hanging around in the cafe (very basic) for nearly an hour.Visited September 2023Written 19 September 2023
- Vickie B1 contributionMinor technical glitch. We did the zipline tour. Its totally amazing and the staff are friendly and helpful. Downside is that you camera and phone are left in a locker at the main building for the zipline activity. When you come off the zipline you are already down the hill near the treetop walk. If you haven't don't the walk before hand you are encouraged to go and do so once you complete the zipline. Not only can you then not take pictures but you also can't call for a lift back up the hill if it becomes necessary. Should you do the treetop walk before the tour this wouldn't be a major issue but you would have a lot of extra walking going down and up twice.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 13 December 2023

- KBofLBLittleborough, United Kingdom553 contributionsGreat viewsThere are two elements to this attraction namely a zip line and a treetop walk. We were only interested in the latter. As well as a fairly level walkway there is a cantilever arm which extends high above the rainforest floor. There is also a higher level viewpoint via a spiral staircase. The views are terrific. it is only a 15 kilometre diversion off the Great Ocean Road at Lavers Hill. There is a large car park and a visitor centre. Highly recommended.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 March 2024
- RSsydneySydney, Australia1,151 contributionsAwesome temperate rainforest experienceOtway Fly via Lavers Hill is just over an hour from Apollo Bay. We were recommended this experience by the helpful staff at Big 4 Apollo Bay Caravan Park, we even bought our ticket from them at a slightly discounted rate. Initially, we were going to buy the ticket online on the day of our visit, but the site advised that we couldn't do that, we could only buy a ticket for the following day. So, on inquiring with the Big 4 staff, we learnt that those rules were for Covid times and we shouldn't have any problems entering the site. What an experience, Mait's Rest was a mini rainforest experience, this was an hour and a half of exhilarating adventure. - EscapeFromMelbourneMelbourne, Australia28 contributionsNature is amazing, Otway fly offers one perspectiveNot my first time visiting, but it was my first time with my family. Middle of winter so absolutely freezing-advantage was that there weren’t loads of other ppl there. I personally think it’s time they updated their signs & info along the track-the signs look like they've been there since opening & could offer much more interesting & up to date information. For example, the ages of significant trees or First Nations perspectives could be included. It also seems odd that the first thing you see is a hive display about the construction of the attraction. Dragon & fairy village is a really nice addition for ppl with young kids. People have said the food was ordinary & limited-it serviced our needs happily, burgers/Turkish rolls, rolls & wraps also available. My only criticism of the cafe was our drinks were practically cold. All in all nature is still doing its job of being amazing & the fly offers a new perspective of the beautiful bush.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 July 2024

Besutiful place, zip line is good fun. Don’t think it’s worth the price ($120ea) and the zip lining is A LOT of waiting around for others in the group to depart and arrive at each platform. 2.5hrs could be condensed into 20mins without waiting for others. Guides were both great (Perry & Charly) made it very fun and engaging. Good for families and groups that want sensational nature aesthetics with minimal fitness effort. For more experienced nature explorers, it’s very restricted a short walks and distinct pathways / railed walks. The bridges were great ! Worth a look if your in the area, just didn’t feel like it was worth the cost for us. Would still recommend for families or groups 👍🏼

Hello,
Thank you for your feed back .We really appreciate you taking the time to review our business.
With regards to our zip line tour. It takes 2.5 hours due to the fact we have large groups. We need to get everyone through on the zip line. Depending on the size of the group it can be quicker. With regards to the pricing, there is a lot of maintenance and upkeep of the zip line. We take a lot of pride to keep our safety standards high.
We apologize if we did not meet your expectations.
Thank you

The facilities were great. There is a bit of a walk from the car park to the opening but disabled car parking is available closer to the venue.
The forest, tower and walkways are amazing. An engineering accomplishment with a counter lever there as well. Worth the $25 per person to visit.
Fairly steep walk down to the walkway and they offer a pick up service in the hour for those unable to walk back out.
We toured off the Great Ocean Road to the Otway Fly Treetop Adventure to walk the treetops. If you take the turn off before Apollo Bay (heading west) be aware the road that you turn left onto gets very narrow. It’s speed limited at 40km/h and heaps of signs saying that logging trucks use this road. The car in front of us drove in the middle of the road too quickly and got a truck on a tight bend. The truck did a great job avoiding him but please be careful.

It was quite a good experience and most likely you will enjoy your time if you choose to go.
It is a fair walk from the car park to the start of the bridges, which is not a bad thing, but just means it takes a bit longer to see than you might think.
The only reason I did not rate this a bit higher is because triplet falls is so close and it is free.
If your time is a little limited, you might get a cheaper forrest experience by doing just the triplet falls trail walk.

What a fabulous experience. We booked Treetops with our teenage boys. From the minute we signed on to the last zip line the team where just so professional. Our guides were Jacko, Matt and newcomer Shannon . Great job team . They kept us safe, were respectful of everyone’s abilities and told bad jokes .
I would only recommend a little discussion about the rainforest and it’s history whilst high in the tree tops . Otherwise, can recommend to other adventures wanting something different.
Well done

We arrived at 3.20pm on Monday the 1st of August, very excited to walk through the treetops. Last entry is at 3.30pm. The gate was already closed and no one answered the phone. We had travelled 2 hours from Warrnambool and had to do some work in the area so could not get there any earlier. Was HIGHLY disappointed to see that everyone had obviously packed up and gone home. We will be back for the walk, but certainly not impressed with the customer service. If you say last entry at 3.30pm, that should mean the gate is open until 3.30pm regardless if there was no other walkers there. Very very disappointing.

I would like to give a massive shout out to the fabulous staff at the Otway Fly!
I pre-booked our entry to the treetop walk for 12.00, but didn’t rock up until 2.15pm (because travelling with kids…). The staff didn’t bat an eyelid at our lateness and let us in. Once we got past the ticket booth, a wonderful staff member offered us a lift in the buggy down to the fairy garden, which was a much better alternative than a 10 minute walk with a grumpy toddler and baby in a carrier.
We had a lovely walk around the fairy garden and then along the treetop walk, which has grown incredibly since we were last here 10 years ago.
Once we got back to the buggy station, we were able to call again and the buggy took us back up the hill to the visitor centre. Our daughter got a lollipop and sticker for completing the scavenger hunt in the fairy garden which absolutely made her day!
Our baby was losing his mind by then, but despite the fact that we were quite literally the last people there, we were made to feel very welcome to sit in front of the gas log fire while I breastfed our son.
Thank you so much for your kindness towards our family, our experience at the Otway Fly really started our holiday off on an amazing note.

A superb time doing the zip wire and treetop walk. Huge shout out to my fellow metal-head Matt 🤘🏻 who helped me through my nerves at the top of the platform.
I visited in March and it was cold and damp and the mossies were bad - definitely wear long trousers and a coat.

Hello
My family are visiting next March and we already have a motorhome booked.
We would very much like to visit Otway Fly but I understand from the website that the road leading to it is unsuitable for a motorhome.
I am planning on staying in Apollo Bay and wondered if there was a shuttle bus/town bus that goes there or if it will simply be a taxi from our campsite? If it is a taxi any idea on cost? Thank you
Written 15 October 2019
Hi Rebecca,
It is possible to drive your Motorhome to the Otway Fly site, but you will need to plan your trip to go round about from Apollo Bay as the direct road from town goes through a National Park and is very treacherous (40kph all the way with lots of braking and very narrow). It is a beautiful drive going the long way around and worth stopping for the occasional sight-seeing. I am sure you will love the trip and adventure of moving away from the Great Ocean Road for this special day with the gnomes in Otway Fly park among their tree homes. Have a great trip and ENJOY.

Rebecca, you can take your motor home to the Otway Fly if your drive there from Apollo Bay via Lavers Hill. The route that is unsuitable for a motor home takes you via Turtons Track and you should avoid this direction. Give yourself a good hour to get there to get there.

Did you not read the very large sign about distance etc which is painted on the wall. The sign says how far the walk is, about it being all uphill on the way back.

I have a small fear of heights and truly dislike roller coasters because of that stomach dropping feeling they give you- hence why I do not go on them. I have never zip lined before but I think it would be a great experience. My question is: does the zip line go so fast to the point where you get that stomach dropping experience? How long is the so line trip? I understand you can stop the line with a hand brake. As long as it doesn't go super fast I think I can deal with the height. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Written 8 June 2017
No, the zipline doesn't go so fast that you get the stomach dropping feeling at all.
The experience is approximately 2 hours and time goes by extremely quickly.
You don't stop the line with a hand brake whilst flying along, it is used at the end of each line from tree to tree.
It doesn't go superfast and the height isn't too bad at all. Being in such a beautiful area, you don't notice the height whatsoever.
Would thoroughly recommend it !

Hi we are coming to see relatives there next week from the UK and they are booking us to visit you, is it not advisable for me to book on the zip line as I have limited strength in my arms due to neck surgery? Many thanks

This does involve being strapped into a restrictive harness, So I won't advise you taking the risk.

hi, does it cost anything if your driving down there yourself and go to do the walk? and also do you have to book in if your doing it by yourself?
Written 16 April 2016
The Tree-Top-Walk is an enclosed National Forestry Park thus you cannot hike within that location. However there are surrounding area you & your team can hike (you need further research on that option).
However, even paying for the expensive entrance fee, you will find it is a life-the worth-while visit (especially for overseas tourist like me).
Don't miss this as I had done one tree-top-walk at location near Albany (Western Australia), and this one is better.

Sorry , I didnt see or hear any either, but they may have been hiding there somewhere. Just enjoy the walk.
