About
Lake Cave is a stunning crystal wonderland; the only cave in the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge with a permanent lake. The water acts as a mirror, reflecting the myriad of delicate crystal straws above. The cave is renowned for the ‘Suspended Table’ – a massive calcite decoration, weighing several tonnes, that hangs from the ceiling and almost touches the surface of the lake. The precinct features an interpretative centre, retail and cafe facilities. Located 20 kilometres south of Margaret River.

Highly enjoyable cave. Best for the more sedate but has a few steps…
Jun. 2021 • Family
Highly enjoyable. Perhaps a bit smaller than we imagined and the “lake” was a stretch but the history, and the guide that explained the history was superb. Proceeds go to the conservation of these caves for tourists like us so although slightly overpriced the sentiment was worth it. I personally would have preferred a more ‘adventurous’ cave, but the slightly more sedate in our family voted up for Lake Cave.

UNIQUELY BEAUTIFUL
May 2021
Don't be put off by the 300-odd stairs down (and back up!!) to reach Lake Cave, it wasn't that difficult, there are plenty of opportunities to stop and it is worth every step! Lake Cave is really quite gorgeous, probably the best cave we have seen and certainly unique with its "floating table". Our guide was informative, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed the light show at the end were very pleased that we visited the cave.

Stunning!
May 2021
This cave is absolutely stunning. We took the family and everyone loved it. Our guide was super informative and had little jokes along the way which was appreciated. Wish I got his name because he should be congratulated on job well done!
It was just wow the whole way through. Loved the light show our guide put on.
The 325 steps on the way up are an absolute killer but totally worth it.
This is a must do while in Western Australia.

A good workout & some beautiful natural scenery

I'd been to Lake Cave many years ago and was aware of the 325 stair descent, plus the same to come out, but I'd say if you're up for that then it is well worth it. The magnificent natural formations you'll get to see are like none you'll see in any gallery. In this cave nature has truely out on an excellent display.

Beautiful cave with spectacular forest walk into it. Be prepared for 325 steps both ways , requires reasonable fitness.

I was absolutely wowed by this cave! So many wow factors! I would thoroughly recommend this cave with the highlight being the hanging table! The hundreds of steps were well worth the effort.

our tour guide was David and he gave us the best tour we’ve ever had ... we really felt a connection with the stalagmites and stalagtites. david was very informative and answered all our questions about the cave. if you’re in the area, we definitely recommend going on this tour and you would be very lucky to get tour guide David :)

325 magical steps
Apr. 2021
Very informative guided tour, the way down provides different aspect of the cave entrance and very scenic. Would be great if the sun was out. Even on a stormy day it was safe to walk down all the 325 steps.

Great for the young and old, kids age of 5 yrs can easy walk down. Inside the cave the temperature is nice and cool. The light show provided amazing highlights of some limestones formation, I like the reflection of the formations from the water.

The tour is not as long as the Mammoth Cave, but still well worth the trip.
