Lovely shop, lovely staff. They have plenty of things that you could buy for gifts, it’s a bit on the pricey side but it’s quality. The macarons are delicious, they have chocolates also.

Who knew Macarons were invented in Montmorillon? And I never knew how good they could be.... Try one of the cakes and you will not be disappointed. The ladies running the shop are charming and very welcoming.

Desperate to find something to do on a rainy day with two 15 year-olds we came across the reviews for this. It is worth a visit and the small museum above the shop is very informative of the history of the macaroon and the village...More

While the museum is interesting, buying and susequently eating the Montmorillon macaron is the highlight. This are big almond flavored cookies which are lovely, sort of like a marzipan cookie. Not the same as the macarons from Paris. While I would not fly overseas just...More

This was our third or fourth visit with another group of friends, the museum in appearance looks like a double fronted shop window. On the ground floor is the shop which sells a range of items / gifts, mainly handmade chocolates and macaroons and to...More

This museum was very interesting but quite small. We found out everything we needed to know about almonds and macarons. We were given handsets with English commentary but the actual displays had English translation so not really necessary. The tasting was the best part for...More

The shop was open and it was very nice. Staff were a little prompt and rude but it didn't matter we weren't there for that. A bit pricey but it is worth it to try something different and to take to friends as a gift...More

The Musee du Macaron is a lovely little museum, providing masses of information on every aspect of the humble macaron - we discovered there are 5 centres of macaron making in France, and the historic town of Montmorillon is one of them. With a fascinating...More

Montmorillon is lovely. If you have the time, the museum is good but is not comprehensive. It will not take you long to have a look around. However, the explanations and demonstrations in the guided tour are very clear and you may even get a...More
