February was rainy, and it was with this lucky burst of sunshine that we visited Thrift Farm. It is very family friendly and has lots of farm animals. This week was lambing week and visitors get to see newborn lambs. We missed a live birth by a mere 15mins (Ah well, such is life)! When you get to the entrance, you can purchase feed to feed the animals, just take note that bunnies, guinea pigs, donkeys and ponies have special diets and are not allowed the animal feed. Having said that, there are tons of other hungry animals who appreciate the special treats. Bunny and guinea pig petting are at set times, so try not to miss them! Lots of room for wheelchairs and strollers to pass. However, do keep in mind it is a farm. Lots of muddy tracks so if you bring stroller, be prepared. We were not prepared for the mud so we left the day with muddy shoes and socks! Some very prepared parents came with wellingtons which is fun for kids who love to imitate Peppa pig! Loads of outdoor activity fun too, my little one enjoyed jumping pillows and the ride ons. Cafe serves delicious food, a pity that cooked food is last served at 3pm and drinks at 4pm, but having said that, there are still cakes, cookies after 3pm. All in all, it was a lovely visit. The downside was when it closes at 5pm, you are expected to vacate at 10 to 5. As my ride didn't arrive till 5:15pm, my baby, toddler and I had to wait out in the cold carpark for 20mins as suggested by the staff. However, if you attend the nursery, you won't have to worry, parents can wait in the warm cafe located onsite.

Hello, Thank you for your lovely review! It’s great to hear you enjoyed your visit, especially during lambing season—just missing a live birth! We’re delighted that your little one had fun with the jumping pillows, ride-on tractors, and, of course, meeting our animals. We’re sorry to hear about your wait in the cold for your lift home at the end of the day. Our team needs to close the site promptly. We’ll take your feedback on board and see how we can improve this experience for future visits. We hope to welcome you back again soon for another wonderful day at the farm! Best wishes, Thrift Farm Team 💜

Cannot recommend Thrift farm enough for a day out with the kids especially their seasonal specials. I was so impressed with the Santas Grotto my little ones absolutely loved it, and the gifts that were included were great as well! So worth the money but also great that it is affordable especially if you have a family with multiple children santas visits can get so expensive but they really made it so magical , the staff are great and service in the cafe is also fast , highly recommend

Another very enjoyable visit, helped by great weather. There are always new areas being developed and it is great to see that an indoor play area is being developed to help with those wetter days. Our 3 year old grandson just loves his time here and knows many of the animals by name! The cafe offers excellent food which means we are able to stay for lunch and continue playing afterwards, making it excellent value for money

Over the Christmas period, we visited Thrift Farm to see Santa Clause and give our two grandchildren an opportunity to speak to the great man before Christmas Day.

The visit to the grotto is ticketed although you are free to visit the rest of the attractions/animals but don’t be late or you could miss the advance activities with the Elves. The grotto is really well put together and you walk a route through trees, lights and little displays before being shown in to Santa who was sound asleep and snoring like the proverbial.

The Elves had the children shout to wake him up and when he saw my granddaughter with her “I am 6 today” badge, a resounding rendition of Happy birthday to you was organised.

Santa then read a story to the kids before they were led individually into the gift room to pick their own present. An excellent little experience for the children with a great Santa who made them all at ease.

The rest of the farm had plenty of animals either in pens/fields or in petting areas and although it really looks like a significant investment would not go amiss, the lack of commercial bias did bring back the true feeling and meaning of Christmas.

The Café was situated in a more modern unit with hot food and snacks available. We had some home baking – mince pies and shortbread – really tasty.
An excellent day out for the kids and enjoyed by adults too.

My daughter (nearly 3) and I had a wonderful day at Thrift Farm. We went around all the animals. It's the perfect size for little ones as there isn't a huge amount of walking. Petting the rabbits and guinea pigs and picking hen eggs were a huge hit. All the staff were friendly and informative. For example, I asked the young girl in the garden centre about when the indoor play area was going to be open by. I could not resist buying some hen eggs in the shop as they were such good value and knowing the hens have a great life on the farm.

They have a wonderful cafe on site too which I have used before but today we took a picnic and there is plenty of picnic tables beside the park area.

We took advantage of the £6 January tickets and kids had a great time, as they basically had the run of the farm by themselves. It was nice for them to be able to see everything without fighting through other kids.

Cafe is a bit expensive for the kids meals for what you get. We paid £7 each and it came out in a small polystyrene tray with a raw looking tiny microwaveable pizza, three slices of cucumber and a few fries.

One guy who was working on the playground didn’t seem too chuffed to have children there during the off-season playing in the sand and he came and closed the jumping apparatus while we were using it. But the kids had a great time and that’s what matters!

We took our grandaughters aged 2 and 5 to visit from 10.30 to 3.30 and they were engaged the whole time apart from the 2 year old having a nap. They fed the animals, petted the rabbits and guinea pigs, stroked the goats, collected the eggs, played in the playground, had a picnic, went to the cafe for an ice cream, petted the rabbits and guinea pigs again and had a fantastic day out. Well worth it.

Hello, we're really happy that you had a fantastic day out with your Granddaughters. We're so happy they got up close to the rabbits and guinea pigs and got to feed them, they love attention from our visitors. Egg Collecting is such a lovely experience for the little ones! We hope you all got to experience all our Sensory Summer activities. The Barefoot Walk has been so popular where the children get to walk across lots of different textures with no shoes on! The Sensory Farm Trail is great and and we hope you'll be back over the summer to experience the new Wildlife Walk, Moo-ster Chef Messy Play, Wildflower Hoopla and more summer activities. Thank you for leaving your lovely review. Cannot wait to see you all again soon. Best wishes, Thrift Farm Team 💜

We live in Spain and come over every 6 months to visit family. At Easter 2024 we visited Thrift Farm and had a great time, so much so when we came over again, our 6 year old insisted it was the only place she wanted to go to! The unbeatable combination of animals to feed, cuddy bunnies, guinea pigs and chicks to pet and a large open field with a comprehensive playpark has proved to be a winner twice now! Sitting in the sun there can be very relaxing if allowed to and there are picnic tables and a cafeteria restaurant, which might be a bit slow in bringing the food out but that is because they cook each order to order! Highly recommended.

The farm, the playground and the weather were amazing, we had a fantastic day. The only issue I'd tell you about was the cafe, I waited about 30 min for 3 bottles of water and a coffee, and I could see others had to wait quite long too. It wasn't cool, and next time I defo bring coffee with me. Everyone was nice, it was just the wait.

Return visit with my 3 year old. This time we took my older son and to be honest it was tricky to tell which one had the best time. We all enjoyed feeding the cheeky goats and sheep and thrilled at the number of kids, so cute. Mary was moved this time into the big barn and we learned if you rustled the food bag she actually woke up and came looking for food. We enjoyed the play area but a light rain made the pillows very slippy which was a shame.
Will definitely come back
