Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent lake to swim, fresh relatively warm crystal clear water. It’s worth coming just to swim and relax.
The walking track around the lake is monotonous and boring,- no lake views. I believe the walk can be skipped.
There is an amazing 500 years old The Cathedral Fig Tree not far from the lake really worth visiting in my opinion

What a beautiful lake. The day we visited it was cold and miserable but we spent time wandering around and walked around lake along boardwalk. A lovely spot with the most gorgeous lake and a nice spot for a picnic and a swim if you are game. There are crocodile signs there but people were swimming.
Highly recommend visiting this gorgeous lake.

Nestled in the lush rainforest of the Atherton Tablelands is the beautiful Lake Eacham.

A short 10 minute drive from Yungaburra, this former volcanic crater is a serene and tranquil place and is a must-visit when in Explore Tropical North Queensland.

Make a day of it with picnic areas and barbecue facilities available. Maybe jump off the pontoon into the crystal clear blue freshwater or paddle around on your SUP or kayak.

Go on, treat yourself 💆🏼‍♀️💙

We walked around both Lake Eacham and Lake Barrine. Both tracks are through dense rainforest and don't just follow the edge of the lake. The slopes of the craters are too steep, especially Lake Eacham. So in both cases most of the time you are some distance from the lake, admiring water glimpses rather than views. We probably preferred the Barrine walk. While it is nearly twice as long, there were fewer people and we could have a celebratory coffee at the teahouse when we finished. There is more scope for swimming, kayaking and other water sports at Eacham, if that is more your thing. Lake Eacham also excellent picnic facilities.

We visited in the late afternoon and the light on the lake was lovely. We walked on a path by the lake side. There is a large parking area and when we were there it was very busy with lots of local families. The lake is signposted from the main road.

We've been here before, and we were looking to come back. Parking is easy and free. There are lots of places for a picnic. The lake is absolutely wonderful for a swim. It gets deep very quickly, but the temperature is very pleasant (even in winter).
There were signs saying a crocodile had been seen in the last week, and this made several people too scared to swim. Apparently, there has long been a freshwater crocodile in Lake Eacham, but I doubt it would want to be near humans. We swam anyway, as did the locals.
There were plenty of fish around.
Great place, and we will be back.

It was our 1st time visiting this beautiful lake…. I just couldn’t get over the colour of the water, my gosh! Plenty of car parks and picnic tables & barbecues .. There’s grassed areas to put a rug or mat out on… Lovely spot for a swim or a little dive off the pontoon.. It was holiday time when we visited so there were plenty of people around enjoying themselves.. If you have a canoe or kayak it would be lovely to just go for a paddle around the lake to explore… Well worth a visit if your visiting the Atherton Tablelands or in the Cairns area.. 10/10 from us

Absolutely beautiful spot to relax and have a bite to eat and a swim. The water is crystal clear to the point that we all kept commenting on everything we could see. It's also one of the calmest swimming spots we came across in our travels and has easy man made entry points. This makes it ideal for those that may not be comfortable to enter the various waterfall swimming spots which often have rushing water and slippery natural entries.

There is a resident crocodile but we didn't see him. We did see lots of turtles from the turtle viewing lookout though!

We visited lake Eacham during our stay in the Tablelands. It’s a beautiful lake with really clear water, a great place to swim. But I think everyone was thinking the same thing. Don’t come here if you want to relax (on weekends) as it seems everyone in town is here. Maybe come when school is on.

This is a pretty and peaceful place in a rainforest. You can swim in the clear green water.
There is a 3km Circuit walk around the lake which is beautiful.
Apparently there is a fresh water crocodile there but we didn’t see it.
