Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife and I did our diving qualifications here a couple of years ago. Marie Glemot was our instructor. She was really professional and patient teaching us to dive. Especially since I was claustrophobic and the course was booked during a week where a cyclone moved past Perth. This caused the visibility to be very poor and I really struggled. But in the end marie pulled us through. Now I am qualified and have more than 20 dives under my belt. I am enjoying the sport and I am happy she pushed my to overcome my fears.

I completed an Open Water Dive Course and upgraded my final dive to a Rottnest Dive and it was so worth it!
The instructors Darren and Seb were very down to earth, lovely and really cared for your safety and we all had a good laugh at times whilst learning a great skill.
The Rottnest Dive was at an area called Kingston which was beautiful. We went through tunnels, saw so many fishes and even a couple of rays! Absolutely fantastic and i'm proud to be part of this amazing diving community thanks to Diving Frontiers. :-)

I recently finished my Open Water dive course with Doddy, and I highly recommend him as an instructor. Extremely patient and knowledgeable. Constantly encouraging and supporting me when I was struggling and refused to give up, of which I'm incredibly thankful.

The course was run efficiently with no pointless long breaks unless we needed to catch our breath (unlike other dive companies), so we could finish early and still get things done over the weekend. Though he was more than happy to stay as long as needed to make sure we were confident enough with our abilities.

The dives were great and we were taken to local spots that weren't busy with other dive companies so we could enjoy the place to ourselves. I'm looking forward to joining their dive club and maybe doing the advanced course with them in the next 12 months.

I recently dealt with Diving Frontiers for the first time and the experience was very bad indeed. On 13-Feb I booked on to their 28-Mar Key Biscayne oil rig dive - a real "bucket list" dive for me - and paid in full. They said it would definitely go ahead unless the weather is bad, and they would contact me in the week before to confirm. With less than 3 days to go (and the weather forecast looking good) I hadn't heard from them so called them just to put my mind at ease that the dive was definitely on. However they said the dive was unlikely to happen as their boat skipper got offered a higher-paying charter at that time. Despite the prior commitment, and the backup skipper not being available, they let him do it!

When were they going to let me know this? It was less than 3 days before the dive when I called. I'm shocked that Diving Frontiers would go back on a commitment like this. OK, even if I cut them some slack and acknowledge that stuff-ups happen sometimes, you would think this would be a time for them to do some serious crawling if they gave a damn about their customers. But no, I didn't get even an apology. Nothing.

As I said this was a really important "bucket list" dive for me, and for personal reasons I'm not sure I will ever have another opportunity to do it. Thankfully Dolphin Scuba in Welshpool (http://www.dolphinscuba.com.au/) came to the rescue and I got my dive in.

So in summary I can't remember dealing with anyone else as unprofessional and lacking customer focus as Diving Frontiers. I'll only give them another chance in the future as a last resort. I recommend going to any other dive shop in Perth first!

Dear Skinsman, We wish apologise for the poor experience with our Business. The tardy reply to the cancellation of the trip was my sole responsibility and no way represents that our the business and the other staff that work here. The business has been operating for over 18 years. Unfortunately I was experiencing " the early and difficult stages" of a divorce after 28 years of marriage and my efficiency and emotional state was severely effected during this time. I believe I had apologised to you for the disappointment of the cancellation however obviously this was not made strong or clear enough at that time. Unfortunately as you know this is a deep dive to 40 meters and we were unable to acquire a replacement Skipper who had sufficient experience to conduct the trip. As a result had to cancel the trip and refund all participants for Safety reasons. I hope you can be compassionate and take into account these personal issues. Again I apologise and glad you manage to get a dive on the Wreck in the end.

Staff were very knowledgable and enthusiastic, overall glad to have gotten my OW Cert.
Be careful of the Scoopon deals as they try to up sell you as much as possible and all the "inclusions" on the coupon are not talked about when you book/finish the course.
Mask and Fins are not included as these are classified as "snorkel" gear. Pkg is around $350 which includes quality mask/fins and 1 free tank hire after your course.
Log books aren't included another $15 and Rottnest Dives are extra as stated on the coupon. Overall you'll be paying close to $1k for those "trying" out this activity to see if you like it. Make sure you do the maths and get all the info before commit to any coupon deals as there are non coupon company that offer an all inclusive course which are more economical.

Having wanted to complete my open water course for many years i finally decided to take the plunge and do the course in Perth, Western Australia. Through research, and visiting various shops etc i settled on Diving Frontiers due to their friendly, enthusiastic and approach able staff. The first day was theory day and was nice and easy as i had already completed my study at home and anything we didn't understand was explained again. The second day was the pool where we learnt all dive skills (mask clearing, reg recovery, out of air skills...) which we would be demonstrating and using in the ocean. All of the skills were explained clearly to us and demonstrated before we then repeated. If anything was done slightly incorrect Darren explained to us what we had missed and we redid the skill. Plus we had plenty of opportunity to swim around and work on our buoyancy and practice actual diving which was really cool :-) Although the pool is a long day, it is very enjoyable and we all felt more confident and comfortable heading into the ocean the next weekend. The second last day was a shore dive at the Rockingham Wreck Trail. We did 2 really nice dives were we had to perform various skills underwater. We saw some really nice wrecks which had quite alot of life on them. Our last day was a boat dive out at Rottnest island, again doing 2 dives. On the first dive we did a few underwater skills before swimming around swirl reef. We got to our 18m mark which was really cool and there was lots of life around which was great to see. On our last dive we did the city of york wreck which was interesting again with plenty of life and the vis on these dives was really good, about 15m!!
To summarise, the course was very well put together, taught and run and i would definitely recommend diving frontiers to anyone looking at getting their open water ticket.
Hope this helps :-)

Geoff

Booked two dives with this company after reviewing them online first and was not disappointed
Great service from the initial contact with Glen the owner.
I visit dive shops all over the world and was impressed with the staff who were very friendly especially Darren who knitted me out prior to the dive. The shop had a large selection of equipment and efficient tank refill service.
The rib, skippered effectively by Chad was compact and took us to the dive site off Rottnest Island
Jessica the Dive Instructor was looking after and Open Water Course and I buddied up with the Dive Master Helena.
The pre dive brief was very good, which indicates the quality of the staff. First dive was Roe Cave that offered superb swim throughs around 15m. Helena was very efficient and helpful throughout the one on one dive, frequently pointing out interesting fish. Excellent 37m dive
Second dive was Kingston, that was at 8m and offered a 42m dive time
Hire equipment sorted and my diving improved dramatically
The site offered more swim throughs with Crayfish in abundance. Loads of fish and beautiful coral formations.
I thoroughly enjoyed the dives and can't praise the staff enough. One of the best Dive outfits I have used.
Feel safe booking with Diving Frontiers

A group of us did our open water through these guys. It was well run and a good 4 days! They accommodate working people, doing it on 2 weekends and when the weather turned bad, they honored our boat dive for another time. I felt safe diving with them and their instructors were good fun! Would use them again!

Having completed my open water and Advanced Diver certification with Diving frontiers I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate them on their excellent Dive training staff and indeed the whole team at the Balcatta shop. These guys ooze enthusiasm for all things diving, its infectious. My children have requested OW dive training and I have no qualms in entrusting their safety to Glenn and the team.
Book yourself in, you wont regret it.
