- AndrewJ02United Kingdom128 contributionsFascinating place -430m!!Fascinating place, we had 4 hours there off a tour and just had so much fun. The floating experience is fantastic as is the natural mud wrap and salt scrub, the best spa we’ve been to! Great talking to others on the beach and having a laugh with the mud. Watch out for the soft spots, there plenty of lost flip flops 😂 To be at the lowest place on earth felt strange and somewhat humbling, not many get the chance.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 October 2023
- Jim TSydney, Australia8 contributionsOut of this world foat and mud expereinceGlorious weather! Warm water! Excellent facilities! The resort would have been built many years back and now is sadly, way up above the present lake level. The walk down to the actual beach would be a good 10 min walk. I suggest you walk down dressed and change down there at the water side. There are lockers in the resort but that length of walk in bathers is perhaps long. There is a free golf buggy for those who don't want the walk. There are showers down at the water for taking the thick mud off, then there are showers up at the resort for a final clean.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 June 2024
- Robert D7 contributionsWonderful Dead Sea dining and swimming experienceGreat food and service. Wonderful views of the Dead Sea and the mountains of Jordan from shaded seating and dining areas. Easy access to changing areas, showers and the beach. Very pleasant and relaxed ambiance. Convenient shuttle service for those that do not wish to walk the short distance down to the beach from the parking and upper shopping area.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 6 July 2024

The beach and the sea at Kalia (Kalya) are great. It is located in the lowest point on Earth - minus 430 meters.
Easy to reach by bus from Jerusalem.
Check the attached photo for updated prices.
18 NIS is minimum and enough I would advise. On the shore there are free beach chairs for all the tourists.
The paid ones (chairs and sunbeds) are 20 meters above, but more comfortable.
The shuttle is useless for normal people. Only the ones very ill should use it.
It is not easy to enter the sea because of the mud, but once inside, it is amazing.
I recommend to go there around 11-12, because later in the afternoon it gets very crowded.

Despite being a paid entry, the beach is fairly undeveloped. Biggest issue is in the water there area a number of hazards, including the natural rocks that are prone to cause injury bit also dangerous fence posts. There are steps in a few places on the way down to the beach, but for the most part it is a slip hazard. The beach is not even a rock beach, but loose stone, that looks like tailings from nearby mining operations. There is trash that liters the area that has obviously been there for weeks. Later multiple bus loads arrived making it unenjoyable. There are tables and chairs to enjoy, umbrellas can be a bit hard to come by. Shower facilities are minimal, the private ones are in disrepair offering no privacy.

The wonderful Makmood made sure we arrived here safely and correctly once again, and it wasn't long before the PA was leading me into this beach area. It was so crowded with overpriced tat being lapped up by American tourists. The changing rooms were incredibly hot and given the temperature I deemed it appropriate to allow the PA to undo his top button, meanwhile I stripped down to my waistcoat; I felt somewhat naked. I was offered a "shuttle" down to the "beach" on a golf buggy however there was a bit of commotion when I requested that Makmood drive it, as a result of that being denied we would have to walk. There was a distinct lack of bathing machines in the water, the PA informed me I would have to wade into the water like everyone else; how uncivilised. Upon entering the water it became apparent that even in my morning dress bathing suit I still floated, not wanting to get my hair wet I found it rather difficult to control direction so I ensured the PA was close by to act as a bouy. While attempting to stop floating my top hat fell off and started drifting away, I instructed the PA to go over the floating barrier and retrieve it; he must have gone to Jordan and it was a good hour before I saw him again. At this point I was rather bored so went back up to the entrance and sat infront of a giant fan, this caused quite the stir with people gesticulating at me however I simply ignored them.

Absolute trash. Every single part of the experience is awful. Makes the worst party of the Jersey shore look like paradise. Israel is magnificent and this is nothing close to that. Parking is very expensive and the parking lot is barely even a parking lot. The line to get in and the entry fee, and a fee for a chair and an umbrella and the shuttle to the beach. You basically have to buy an all inclusive (which includes the items I just mentioned). But that’s not the bad part. It’s disgusting, crowded, food service is expensive and awful, the “beach” isn’t a beach at all, it’s a rock next to a small roped in area in the Dead Sea. No facilities near the shore line. If you want food or drink or a bathroom you climb back to the top. Groups come in by the hundreds when there are seats for 50. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

Not what I would qualify as great experience.
At entrance we took entry with services at 5. The cost was 45ILS for adults & 35ILS for children above 12 y which includes the parking 50ILS plus umbrella and seats, but the family before and after us in the queue took the entrance without services (18 ILS per head) and got the same access to the umbrella and seats than us, only difference is the parking costs 50 ILS.
In case you go, pay attention.
The people at the entrance just told us that they will ask lifeguard to find us space to put our bags but the beach was crowded and limited chairs left and lifeguard was sitting or quite laying on a chair playing on his mobile phone.
The infrastructure is old and many showers broken, we had to do another queue for the showers.
What is nice is that the snack on the beach serves good mezze, and that there is lot mud for skincare .

No one else there when we visited Kalia Beach. Water at the beach was pretty rough. Remember the month was January therefore weather was cold and very windy. Rough water prevented us trying flotation. Fun trying mud over our bodies. Facility for showering and changing nice and clean.

Terrible place! You pay NIS 50 for the entrance of a car and then you pay NIS 45 per person, no problem paying, but you don't get anything lol
If you go to an untidy beach, at least you would have a clean sea with salt, peace and nature. There is no trace of nature here. A lifeguard shouts non-stop, full of mud in the water, dirty sea
In the bathroom, a cleaner yells at people for no reason. I have never seen such a repulsive place in the Dead Sea.

Very strange entrance fees. You can buy single ticket for 18 ILS + chair + umbrella. Parking you pay separately. Or you pay 45 ILS all inclusive, but everyone in the car should pay 45 ILS (it means that everyone in the car must pay all inclusive fee - for parking and umbrella, but you have to have luck to get one umbrella for four persons, who paid for it.
And it is not clean place. And food in restaurant? Never more. I had a problem with my stomach. Souvenirs buy in Jerusalem (mud, salt), here you will pay 10 times more. So if you want to go to the Dead Sea, I recommend you better to go to En Bokek.

Visited the Kalia beach as part of an organized tour with Globus. The idea of floating in the Dead Sea sounds amazing when reading about Israel, but in reality, it's a bit touristy and unclean.
We used the changing room to change into our swim wear and sandals, and the area is not the cleanest and tends to be shoulder to shoulder with unclothed strangers, not my thing.
After changing, we headed to the shoreline, again not the best maintained property, but it's the idea of the Dead Sea during biblical times that makes the trek important.
The edge of the water is sandy and once in the water, the bottom of the sea is a bit muddy. Some people were rubbing the mud over their bodies as a way to clean the skin, I did not. Again, there were many people in a small space, some with just their underwear on.
All I can say is that many people on my tour loved the experience, I did not. I think mentally it has to be the thing you have dreamed about doing and are finally getting the chance to try.

This place represents everything that I find reprehensible about mass tourism. Overpriced, poor offering, not a patch on the real thing, and overrun with day trippers.
90 shekels for ‘all inclusive’ which means you don’t pay the rip off costs of the parking as it’s included in the price. A golf cart to the beach when you can walk it in a few mins without the use of four wheels. The right to sit on a deckchair (which everyone without the all inclusive wristband uses anyway).
You get to share the sea with a heaving mass of folks who kick up a mud storm in the water. Up above the water elsewhere looks emerald blue. Here it’s mud colour.
What a wonderful way to ruin a beautiful natural wonder.

It depends. We did not get a locker- we had a beach bag and took our things with us. But there were just two of us - if you're with several people and have alot of stuff it will make sense to get a locker if there is one available
