Was disappointed in our tour there. Had a talk about the park, visit small museum on stuffed animals, walked to a waterfall which was a trickle, not worth seeing. Saw some nice butterflies and a lizard but saw nothing else.

If you are going to travel here by bicycle there’s is a lot of uphill so recommend a moped or a taxi. Good half day activity very rocky so don’t wear flip flops. Nice waterfall and swimming area.

While I was enjoying my stay at the Phong Nha Eco Mountain Farmstay, I was happy to discover that the botanic garden was a short distance away from the resort. I was able to use one of their bicycles for free and go to the botanic garden in less than 30 minutes. The ride was so easy and enjoyable!

The garden itself was pretty nice too and cheap to get in – worth the money. I enjoyed the hike through the jungle and there is an amazing viewpoint from where you can see the unspoilt landscape and lush green mountains. But the swim in the falls was by far the most fun that I had in a while. After the hike, it was especially rewarding and pleasant.

I wouldn't get out of my way to go here, but if you are staying at the Phong Nha Eco Mountain Farmstay, it is definitely something you should do on one of your days in town.

The name 'botanical gardens' is completely misleading as it is just jungle and devoid (on our visit) of anything much to see. We did spot some macaques in a tree (before we entered the trail to the waterfall); they had (apparently) been previously in a pen and set free when tourists stop visiting during the pandemic. There was a pen with a couple of peacocks and a chicken and you can but hope they too will too be set free at some point - the macaques appeared to be thriving!

The trail was muddy and slippery when we visited; We also walked across bamboo pole bridges, up and down rickety steps and a metal ladder - I often needed a steadying hand from our guide. Ultimately the route is pretty uninspiring with just a small, easily forgotten, waterfall as the end reward.

Located near the village, the visit is included in many tours (I went myself, on foot). A very pleasant place even in cloudy weather, and in the season it’s generally great. Of course, this is not a botanical garden, but a small area of forest with trails, paths and gazebos, which turned out to be small for me, the track is very simple (for plump people, with problem joints, very small sections of the trail are suitable). The waterfall is nice, several different levels, clean, you can swim

Just don’t have expectations to see a botanical garden like you’re used to! It is a walk in the jungle, boiling hot with a lot of mosquitos and not too much to see. It’s a nice thing to do if you need to kill time, but I wouldn’t put it on my things to do otherwise.

You're really walking in the jungle. This is not a botanical garden with flower decorations and fountains. The Waterfall is truly beautiful but be aware that the decent and climb is quite rough. You kind of cross the Waterfall so waring waterproof hiking shoes is recommended. Dont ware flip flops for this. PS they have porcupines in a Cage here

not a lot to see here - more an enjoyable walk in the jungle to the top of the falls. To see the falls clearly involves a bit of a scramble over rocks on a well defined trail with chain hand rails in places - worth the scramble. You may get lucky and see some of the wild life being 'rehabilitated' we saw porcupine and monkeys. The information about the Vietnam war is good

We visited the park as part of a cave tour. We walked directly to the waterfall with the guide...the paths are prepared and you walk a bit through the jungle, which seems to be regularly maintained. In the visitor center at the entrance you can see stuffed animals that live in this area. But we didn't find them in the wild in the park...
You get more out of a real jungle trekking day, like the one offered in Phong Nha.

Well, this was a surprise. It involved a scramble across rocks to the top of the waterfall - short and easy, but not for people with mobility issues. But beautiful, A long, well documented walk through the jungle. We were there in the dry, and the waterfall was impressive. In the wet, it will be magnificent. Wonderful views.
