We had a wine and lunch experience at Castillo Viejo and it was superb. The tour was excellent, the wine was amazing (all of the CataMayor brand), and the food was simply divine.
All in all a very comfy experience that brought out the best of the winery with the best of the team.

I visited this great winery. I really enjoyed the friendliness and family character. I simply felt at home. Had to stop tasting because they were all so good. They had a lovely Sauvignon Blanc, and their reds were all really nice too. I left with a bottle of the El Preciado Red. It was all wonderful. I would like to try more of them on another day. It is very close from Montevideo, so this winery is somewhere I will visit again.

The winery is about 1 hours drive West of Montevideo and well worth the trip, the winery is huge with over 300 hectares of vineyards, The meal starts with cold cuts and cheeses and is followed by a churasco and then dessert, 4 different wines are served starting with a Chardonnay and followed by 3 reds with a Port style wine to accompany dessert, If you like wine this is the place for you but do not drive yourself because the wine bottles have no bottom. Before dessert there was a demonstration of the tango which was superbly done, all in all great value.

This is an intimate view at a small family owned winery. It is not one of those big production wineries. The grounds, service, wine were all spectacular. Relaxing, beautiful day, the lunch was average, but wine was amazing. One of my favorite wineries.

Excellent presentation of the winery provided by sommelier Alejandra, who showed us the wine manufacturing process, from planting to bottling. The tasting was very good, with excellent quality wines. One of the best wines we had in Uruguay! Worth the visit!!

The visit to this winery was a pleasant experience. We were welcomed by the owners of the winery who told us the story since the arrival of their ancestors in the region. The visit to the winery was guided by winemaker Alejandra who did a great job of presenting the internal areas and production. Finally, we had a wonderful lunch washed down with the winery's great wines. Unmissable!!

The visit was personalized and wonderful! We were very well received by Alejandra who explained the history of the bodega and wine production very well. We went with our daughter and lunch was excellent with options for all tastes! Excellent wines paired with the starters and main course!

Terrible service, the food was delayed, they said there was a variety of salad and they served only lettuce, three pieces of sliced potatoes and nothing else, they said they gave flavored water and they served plain water and there was no coffee. There are no vineyards!!!!!

At the entrance, we were welcomed in the winery's garden, which is in front of the experimental vineyard, where we were introduced to several different types of grapes. Alejandra, who welcomed us, explained the grape and wine varieties, showed us how the wines are bottled and where they are aged in the oaks. He also took us to a table where we could feel the different notes that are possible to find in the wine. Finally, we did the tasting in a beautiful room. This is the second winery we visited, but the experience here was much richer than the previous one - I highly recommend it!
The driver was recommended by the winery and was also super attentive and waited for the experience to end before taking us back to the hotel.

We paid for the premium tour and had a practically private tour. The guide Raquel was an excellent host, super soloist and polite. Super rich tasting. Good quality wines at an affordable price.
