This place is for those who love open spaces, good landscapes and an escape from nature. September was a good time to vist. Tip - for double hunchback camel ride, reach around 4pm to enjoy the same. We reached at 5.30pm and people with tickets were still waiting for their ride. ATV experience is also one of the finest one here. We stayed in Lotus Eco resort which has an open space and good view of mountains.

Most beautiful valley in Leh after Zanskar is Nubra valley, You should enjoy the beauty while moving down from Khardungla pass to Hundar. The shyolk river passing through the valley add value to its beauty. there are many placed on the way where you can take a break and enjoy the river bank and spend some time. The valey is spread over large area including near to Hundar sand dunes

Must visit this place once, this is what I keep telling my friends and close ones.To reach here one has to cross the Khardungla pass which is at an altitude of 18350 feet. The downslope of Khardungla on the other side suddenly is warm , unlike the top which is snow bound. Nubra Valley offers splendid views. The sandy desert and double back camels are seen seen.

wonderful experience to be there crossing Khardungla Pass -the highest motorable road for civilians. We experienced lots of snow on both sides of Khardungla and reached Diskit at around 2.00 p.m.
In the evening we went to Hunder Sand dunes for camel safari. The valley is very beautiful and the people are very co-operative.

Nubra valley has a very unique geography of mountains, river, desert and land! We get to see double humped camels here, and can enjoy a ride on it. The buddhist monastery on the hill is a spectacular sight to see. The small living town of Nubra welcomes with lots of apple trees and decent hotels to stay. Nubra is close to Siachin heights and hence you come across many troops of army and border security force. Take the pride in saluting them and feel the patriotic thrill.

Nubra valley is very beautiful place with lots of activities like visiting monastries with a 100 feet statue of Budhdha. Moto Bikes riding in the desert, camel riding. And my personal favourite is there is a scenic place here where there is a natural river and small cute little bridge on top of it where donkeys where grazing. While travelling to Nubra valley from Leh I saw a complete white horse like the unicorn in Harry Potter.
There are camps like hotels here and I would recommend staying for a night or 2 at nubra valley.

Hello. I am planning to visit Nubra valley around the last week of July for stargazing
. I am also planning to visit Leh and other nearby areas. My question: Is the terrain/flora/fauna going to look very similar everywhere (the cold dry desert with snow capped mountains in the horizon)? Is there any place near nubra that makes sense traveling to, that also looks significantly different? I would assume that nanda Devi national park would be one such place, however that would be too far.

Hello, you are right the climate of Leh is Dry in all over Leh even at NUBRA, everywhere u will find SNOWPACKED MOUNTAINS, as u know LEH LADAKH is known for SNOW............... Visiting Nubra is really adventurous and charming to view magic of Nature. I have never visited NANDA DEVI so I can not comment.

Ladakh is entirely different from other Himalayan region. Moon land Ladakh is land of passes.Nubra valley Ladakh is different from other region of cold desert Ladakh carved by river Shyok & river Siachin/ Nubra,Famous for sand dunes, double hump camel, Diskit monastery, Maitreyee Buddha, Sumur Monastery. Do visit up to border of Pok (village Turtuk).

Hi we are planning to visit Leh in August 17. We would go to Nubra Valley and to Pangong. Going from Leh to Nubra or Pangong takes 8 hrs and we could reach there by evening only. We can do two night at one place and one at another place. Please suggest where should we stay for two night.

You can start at 7.30am from Leh, in one an hour you will reach Khardung La pass. Which is highest motorable road in world at 18000 plus Ft.
I went with 2 years kid so not to worry.
Nubra is amazing place, you can stay in tents. Many options available.
