The sun sets early this time of year and there is limited opportunities north of Sydney to see wildlife. And Lake Parramatta is not bad, but is very overtrodden. A worked over oasis in the middle of a crowded city. There is good wildlife here,...More

What a lovely find. Large lake that can be walked around. Lots of families and couples doing the circuit. Cafe to get some coffee. Picnic tables or grassed areas for picnics. Small playground for younger children. Plenty of parking spots when we were there.

One of the very few refuges of native plants and wildlife left in the Sydney basin. Native birds of all kinds, finches, parrots, and water birds. Easy walking tracks. In the evening, bats and possums come out.

Parramatta lake is a great way to spend time with the family as you can swim, have a bbq and go for a hike all in the one place. Be warned the water does smell and if you do swim you will have to shower...More

This is a good place to go for a picnic or play with the kids. It has been here for years. The water doesn’t look very nice to swim in, though you can if you want. I would recommend canoeing instead. The parks for kids...More

Whole place is badly maintained, rubbish all over, walking track lack of maintained too, water smelly. Not to mention the area is dangerous, have had a few crime happening around the park. Whole park is not scenic, not worth visiting

Supervised swimming enclosure (on weekends) but muddy and slippery at entry points then very deep except in close to shore.

What a nice relaxing way to spent Easter Monday. Watching the ducks on the water. The parklands are expansive with plenty of facilities

Close to Sydney’s second CBD, Parramatta, but seems like a long way from anywhere. Freshwater lake, convict built dam, row boats, fresh air, moderately aerobic walk through the bush around the lake circuit and a great cafe at the start/end.

There is heaps of parking there. You drive into the reserve and lots of parking few seconds and few minutes away. Parking is also free.
