- markitikiOrlando, Florida684 contributionsTough to find but worth your while!I struggled to find the turn off on my bike, but was able to get help from a local. Once I actually got to the waterfall, I was extremely happy I pressed on. It's a bit of a semi-strenuous walk from the parking lot but the area with the actual waterfalls is easy to navigate. Great spots and viewpoints for pictures and the lagoon is large enough to allow for swimming, even if you are there with a lot of others. Both waterfalls are very impressive and reminded me of those I saw in Australia at the waterfall circuit.Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 26 November 2023
- MissArnScottBluPerth, Australia86 contributionsSecret gem! This was a really magical location with so many waterfalls and a couple of different areas for swimming! Make sure you walk along the little path to see the other waterfalls and swimming options. This was one of the cleanest waterfalls I've seen in Bali! The trek down is a little steep in places but quite manageable. Make sure you have a driver waiting for you or are able to get Grab/Gojek in the area as the staff managing the parking will offer you overpriced transport.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 December 2023
- mrc282World9,452 contributionsbeautiful waterfalls fringed by foliagethe hike to the waterfall is fairly steep and involve uphill, downhill, and huge concrete steps. it takes about 15-20 min to arrive to the falls from the parking lot. alternatively, you can walk the first section, then ride the mototaxi for the second section. i believe the cost for mototaxi is 25K IDR. once there, there is a main waterfall which is the twin waterfalls. there are also other smaller waterfalls around with a pool at the bottom, that have fewer people congregating the waterfalls are fed by spring water, so water is a little cold but not overly so.Visited January 2024Travelled with familyWritten 23 January 2024
- Amanda SeamSydney, Australia3 contributionsAmazing WaterfallThe road to the waterfall is not too far from the ticket office, there are just quite a lot of stairs which will make it difficult on the way home. The waterfall is quite beautiful, there are several streams flowing through the green cliffs. - Ben GChicago, Illinois146 contributionsBeautiful waterfallsStunning waterfalls and not too busy when we got there around 11am. There is a decently sized lagoon at the bottom where you can and swim, and the water is quite refreshing. The walk down to the waterfall takes about 15-20 minutes and is steep but manageable. On the way back, you can pay to ride on a scooter if you'd rather not hike uphill. However, be cautious when getting off the scooter, as their mufflers don't have heat shields, and you risk getting burned if your leg accidentally touches them.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 July 2024

We arrived here and luckily there was very little people there and basically had the whole waterfall to ourselves. water was chilly but you MUST get in if your there. we saw many people just take pictures and not get in. I'm so glad we jumped in, the water was perfect.
We had a private tour guide so it was easy for them to take us here through a rocky and rough road.
This was actually our favorite spot from our tours.

A beautiful place, and on balance, glad I made the effort.
It IS an effort. It’s not a long walk to the ticket counter (steep, but you can get a scooter taxi from the ticket counter back up to the car park for around $3 USD when you are done. The killer is the steps down from the counter to the falls. There are a lot, they are steep and irregular.
If you’re in your 20s or 30s and fit, not really an issue. If like me you’re in your 50s and far from fit, more so. I saw people half my age gazing up in trepidation as they began the climb back up. I couldn’t feel my legs for three days :-)
Worth it for the spectacle (and superb for that all-important Insta selfie I suppose, if that’s your thing). Glad I did it - once. Be advised to wear sensible shoes and take your time!

Reaching the waterfall requires around 20-30 minutes of trekking from car park area through narrow road and muddy forest path. Wear comfortable shoes and can visit with kids.
We did not swim in the water but people seemed to enjoyed in the waterfall. Complimentary water bottles given with the ticket at the entrance of the waterfall.
You can take a ride back up from the ticket counter to the car park in 25K IDR.

The walk down to the waterfall is well worth it. Take a towel so you can have a swim. It is very steep down to the waterfall with quite a few stairs slow and steady and it is more than achievable. Amazing view. Take water with you or a beer as there is no services at the bottom. There is a toilet however.

Disappointing waterfall, extremely tiring steps with many dangerous loose ones or too steep.
The waterfall itself is small and disappointing, and they charge foreigners 50k for entry - unsure what for. Area is not kept clean, lots of garbage.
The nice reviews are probably given by locals who want to attract tourists to their money trap.

I am not one who visits every touristy site when I travel. On my trip to Bali I decided that I was gonna visit just one waterfall and I chose Banyumala twin waterfalls and I wasn't disappointed. The falls were beautiful and not too crowded. It was a long drive but the scenery was beautiful. The descent to the falls was steep and we did struggle to climb back up but I'm glad I visited. Change rooms and toilet facilities are available.

Beautiful, large waterfall in the middle of the jungle where you can swim well, which is why it also attracts some tourists. The entrance fee is 50k IDR, the scooter parking 2k IDR.
You will receive a kl. Bottle of water and a kl. Armband.
The visit can be recommended.
Note that the road ( 2.6 km) to the ticket office is in poor condition and probably not suitable for scooter rider newbies. In addition, the descent to the waterfall is steep.

This place is some distance away from the main road. One has to trek down a hill for 15 mins to reach the waterfall. We enjoyed the trek down, playing in the waterfalls and trek up. (Some ppl prefer renting a bike for going down and up)
The water is pretty cold. Come prepared with water shoes if u are used to them.
The changing rooms and washrooms require a fee and they don't have tissues.

We are trying to go to Banyumala as early in the morning as we can. Is it possible to hike there before 8AM? We are also trying to rent scooters to get there ourselves. About where from the main road (Jl. Raya Wanagiri) should we start looking out for signs towards the falls? Is there a restaurant or landmark near it?
Written 20 November 2019
Hi there i dont remember any restaurants as such along the way but it was not long after Warung Makan Banyumala.
The entrance is on a the downward hill and the parking area was small and people there were directing you to park with your boot to the kerb.
You will probably notice a group of people just sitting buy the side of the road and wonder what they are doing.
You must go in buy foot and you will need to pay a small entrance fee. They have many volunteers to walk with you

Hello - we will visit Bali with a baby in arm? Is it advisable to visit this waterfall for the long walk and steep climb-down that some visitors have commented?
Written 9 August 2019
I’m going to say it is risky. Could you successfully climb down and up without incident, probably. I have been hiking, backpacking, mountaineering, for the last 30+ years and I am very steady and confident on uneven surfaces, are you?
Written 9 August 2019
Is there an entry fee here?
Also, how far is the walk to get from the car to the waterfall & difficulty level?
Written 10 September 2018
It is steep with steps as you approach the waterfall. But otherwise the path is not difficult. A fit person wearing good shoes or boots should be able to navigate this. Do not wear flip flop or sandals as it's muddy in some places because of water seeping from the side of the mountain.

How do you get a driver? Is there a company you book with? (going in May)
Thankyou!
Written 6 February 2018
We used a company called ‘Bali’s Safest Driver’ because of its good reviews on TripAdviser. It was actually them who suggested we include it in our itinerary when I got in touch to organise a car and driver for a day.

How deep is the pond near the waterfall ? I can't swim. My height is 1.7m , Do I need to bring a life jacket for safety reason?
Thanks.
Written 18 January 2018
This might be a late reply. Sorry for that. But guess what? I am about your height. No problem at all. You can walk through most of the pool area. The current was also nice in August. Not a rainy season when I went there last year. Superb~ Only me and my friend were there for the whole two hours (approx.)

I wonder which waterfall is more worth to visit - Sekumpul or Banyumala? Thanks.
Written 8 January 2018
Banyumala as it is more easily accessible And with a natural pool to swim

I'm trying to determine the feasibility of doing a tour at this waterfall with my son (will be 2.5 when we travel). He walks fine though (of course) is kind of slow going up and down steps. I don't mind carrying him for a bit if necessary and could split between myself and my husband for a break. But how long is the walk? Are there sufficient steps? Are they slippery? Are there hand rails?
Would you suggest going here with a 2 year old? If not, are there any other waterfalls that you'd suggest? Any other tips or suggestions would be appreciated as well. Thank you!
Written 12 August 2017
Hi, apologies for just now picking this up. The walk from the road ( small parking) was about one hour one way. However, the car can actually go much much closer, from where there would be only 15 mins to walk. Feasible, be aware however that last part is with steep steps and can be slippery depending on season. You will need to be very careful with a little one
