Definitely worth trying the beer - claimed to be the best in the world. Very nice. Food only average, limited choice, overpriced, quite dry. If it wasn't for the beer this would be a 1 star rating.

This cafe opposite the St.-Sixtus abbey is the place to drink a Westvleteren. Westvleteren has been elected as the best beer in the world, and it is hard to obtain. I found that the #12 has a very soft taste - they managed to get...More

In de Vrede is the only cafe/bar which serves the famous Westvleteren abbey beer, once named best beer in the world (brown Westvleteren 12) and is sold for 5,10 euro. Which is far from cheap if you compare it to other beer prices in Belgian...More
