We saw this glacier on the way to Gaumukh. It was so wonderful to witness the source of River Bhagirathi. For a lover of geography like me, witnessing a geological process like a glacier melting and water channel coming out was a thrilling view.

I traveled for 14 km to look for the glaciers, stayed at Bhojwasa, but could not see any sign of the glaciers. The localites told me that it has shifted much beyond Gomukh in summers. So I dropped the idea of going further.

We went for a trek to Tapovan and crossed these majestic glaciers enroute. Its definitely recommend for all trek enthusiasts.

Hi Amita, The only network that works in Gangotri is BSNL. Please note that you will get connection only in Gangotri and as you walk towards the gaumukh glacier there is no network. You are back in nighties when we had no... More
